Toasted Almond

Not in Texas yet this year, and I don't think there was movement between top/bottom in Texas last year. From what I can see only 1 band in any BoA contest this season has pushed from the bottom half to the top half, and that was Dublin Coffman H.S. moving from 7th in prelims to 6th in finals in Toledo 2 weeks ago (Plymouth-Canton dropped from 5th to 9th, which is likely what allowed them to move up). On a personal note, I have questioned the top/bottom performance split for finals for just this reason... if you're in the bottom, its virtually impossible to move up. Plenty of movement within the two groups of 1-6 and 7-12 (for example, Oak Ridge going from 8th to 12th and Seven Lakes going from 12th to 7th), but rarely any movement between the groups.

Yea, I guess I'm remembering the couple of years just before Covid, when 12 to finals from 20+ seemed a bigger deal then 12 to finals from 15. Either way, the competition will be fantastic with some incredible programs. Always look forward to this contest. And maybe I'm just greedy and want more bands to enjoy! lol.

Back in earlier months of summer (June-ish) the website DID say the Alamodome was the location for 2A/4A/6A, but now.... TBD? (I noticed this change as well recently) I keep stalking to see when the venue will be officially announced. #ImpatientlyPatientlyWaiting

The love and support all the Keller ISD bands have for each other is one of the things I am most proud of about these kids. Truly incredible young people.

Bowie's show is incredible! I am captivated by the story and the artistry. If I had one complaint, as an old-school marching band alum, it would be that the actual "marching band" feels secondary...like they're just there to support the theater on the field. It's visually stunning and I really, really liked it....I just miss the BAND being the star of the show. I'm still trying to catch up to modern day marching band, I suppose.

Central was announced in 10th, Timber as 9th. Are you sure you didn't get that reversed? (Announcer did indeed say that ties we're broken by higher general effect score)

Rumor is that Bown was in the running to replace McBryde. Probably had this on the back burner in case he didn't get the nod from Timber Creek. Will be an interesting year for these kids, but I'm betting they'll persevere and still have an amazing show.

New to this forum, so forgive my ignorance on the math here, but.... How can a music performance score be in the 800-900 range (as many were/are) if there is a maximum of 600 possible points? I see the math clearly on the marching side - 1000 possible points easily explains the numerical scores there.
