  1. Prosper did it in 2017 also.
  2. Lebanon was good and definitely in the hunt for a state birth. 3-10 are gonna be so close!
  3. I volunteered at the region and from what I saw, Wakeland and Lonestar are locks. The other 2 spots are up for grabs between the remaining 8 finalist. In my opinion it could be any of them punching their tickets. They all seem to be so close to each other that judges preference will probably have a big impact here.
  4. Good Luck to all the Texas bands this weekend. There will be 3 Prosper peeps in section 143 for finals cheering y’all on.
  5. Just curious. Why is everyone doubting Prosper this year? Please don’t misunderstand me, I know they are not a lock but now they are way outside of the bubble discussion. They have grown and done quite well this year aside from BOA DFW. At the HEB contest they did well in GE. Is it the fact that they didn’t make finals at BOA DFW. Yes, they only had three acts on the field and some of the GE judges were hard on them but I can’t imagine they have slipped that much in a year.
  6. . Based on the observations above, what are everyone’s opinions on TC, Prosper, and KCs chances at finals in San Antonio?
  7. Big shout out to Prosper and Waxahachie for coming in top 5 here.
  8. Haven’t seen Halthom yet, but I see no reason they aren’t a finalist. I based my order on what I have seen so far this season. Of course, Prosper blew my BOA DFW picks up BUT in my opinion there were some odd scores by a couple of Judges there. Also, isn’t this contest more aligned with UIL scoring as opposed to BOA? That could also play a part in places 4-10.
  9. Lets pick'em. 1. Hebron 2. Marcus 3. Keller 4. Prosper 5. Waxahacie 6.Timber Creek 7. Keller Central 8 - 10 ???????? On a side note I think 4-6 will be really close. You could put those bands in any order.
  10. Looks like the schedule is posted on the DMI page.
  11. While I would normally agree, the week before they did very well in GE. I know you shouldn’t compare scores across contests however two of the 3 judges in GE were BOA adjudicators and the contest scored it the same as BOA 60/40. Just makes me wonder, that’s all.
  12. BandGuy, in my opinion they definitely have a chance at finals there. It won’t be easy but I believe they are close. DFW was a shock to them. In looking at the scores, Prospers prelim scores were odd. When you look at the scores against the 10/11 finalist, 5 of the seven judges in prelims had them in the top 10. The other 2 had them way outside of it. As so often is the case, judges odd preferences played a part in the over all result. For whatever reason, those 2 judges had a much different perspective and with them both being part of the GE score it really hurt Prosper in the scoring. Again, this is just my opinion of Prosper, but I wouldn’t sleep on them or count them out.
  13. In looking at the scores from HEB, how does Keller Central make up almost 6 full points on Prosper? I understand that it’s a different scoring system in BOA but that seems like a insane jump in one week. Can anyone that saw both shows explain??
  14. Better to have the mind set that they are than to over look them.
  15. I agree. I see positions 3 & 4 and 5 thru 7 being the battle ground from what I have seen so far. Keller and Marcus were close at HEB as were Waxahachie and Prosper. I haven't seen Coppell or TC yet and Owasso is a complete unknown. This is going to be a good one.
  16. . After seeing the shows last night at HEB, I would agree with this. Definitely curious to see Owasso and Timber Creek thrown in this mix. I’m hoping the change at TC didn’t set them back too far. They have been one of my favorite DFW bands for several years now.
  17. This one is getting close and I can’t wait. From what I have seen and been hearing the top 3 spots are gonna be a battle. I have seen Prosper and Keller and I’m hearing Marcus has a solid show this year. Waxahachie is the unknown here but they are always solid. This one is shaping up to be a good one for early in the year. Good luck to all the bands entered! Let the season begin!!!!
  18. I'll say this for Timber Creek, they may have had some changes this year but they seem to be doing fine. I have seen them once already and they looked and sounded good for this early in the year.
  19. When you say every year area contest, what does that mean? For all classes? When does that start? Sorry, I hadn't heard about this!
  20. Maybe it's a branding thing? Instead of being the San Antonio super regional it should be the Southern Super regional. There is no doubt that this one is owned by the Texas bands with the deepest competitive field there is in the country. I've been to GN twice, one year with Texas bands in attendance and one year without. There really was a noticeable difference between the two. GN will always be GN and draw from all over the country. It's a great experience that would be hard to replicate anywhere else. However, if there were a Southern Super Regional wouldn't it be more attractive for out of state bands? There would be a lot of prestige and recognition that comes with winning that one. If out of state bands are that good then they should come to the deepest competitive contest there is. Given the depth of the field, there should be preliems, semi's, and finals. This event is just too deep to see a band once and have their fate decided. Anyway, there is a ton of potential here should BOA decide to take a hard look at this contest and what it could be.
  21. Just to clarify, other than the first two this is not how I see them finishing. After the first two it will be interesting how the rest place. It's simply my take on the finalist as a whole.
  22. Finalist - Semi Random order. First two are solid locks, after that I think we could have some surprises this year. Flower Mound Hebron Keller Prosper LD Bell Waxahachie Marcus Timber Creek Coppell Wakeland / Keller Central / Owasso
  23. Well, drill starts today. Bands all across the state begin their 2019 journey's and Texas will invade Grand Nationals this year. With all that being said, who are the favorites, who will take the next step and challenge the favorites and who will establish themselves as up and comers this year. Doesn't matter where you are at in the State, DFW, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, it doesn't matter. Texas Bands rule, so lets get the conversation going.
