Scoring is always so interesting. I recall in 2017 where Roma’s scores for prelims were 7, 8, 10, 10, & 22 placing them in 11th place and missing state finals. I wonder if the 22 was anything closer to the other scores if they would have advanced then.

They got off the field in time, it was their performance that went over by a couple of seconds.

Good morning everyone! I was looking at the schedule for BOA next Saturday and read that a "Class Exhibition (If Needed)" is scheduled for 7:15 pm. I don't know much about BOA and was wondering if anyone could explain to me what that means especially the "if needed" part.

Wow, that's awesome! But I was wondering, is this a recent change? As tubaboom44 stated, 35 bands participated in prelims at the 2017 5A SMBC but 10 advanced to finals. I checked the results for the 2018 6A SMBC and saw that the rule applied; 41 participated in prelims and 12 advanced to finals.

Kind of a random question but does anyone know if the gentleman that announces at the SMBC is still the announcer for the contest this year? He’s awesome “The next band in conference 5A is the _____ High School Band from _____, Texas.” I bet you read that in his voice

This year would have been Roma's 10th consecutive State Marching Band appearance since 2001 :\

Ugh I'm heartbroken, I was praying their appeal would be approved I hope we'll still get to see them at BOA San Antonio *fingers crossed*

Just another quick question, when does the clock start? Is it when the band begins playing or after the announcer says they may begin their performance?

I watched a Facebook live stream last night and noticed that Roma did not participate in the "Pass and Review" portion of Pigskin, do you happen to know why?

I couldn't make it to BOA McAllen today but I'm curious to know how Roma sounded with mellophones? I believe this is the first year they march mellophones after years and years of them marching concert horns and was wondering how their sound changed (if any)
