I am a huge fan of "The Wall of Sound." I never said I didn't like it. As a matter of fact it has been my preference in marching band since the mid 80s. PR's War and Peace Closer is one of my favorite company front wall of sound moments in all of marching competition. But just like any art, the perception of contemporary greatness has morphed and changed and we as fans need to do the same in our perception lest we become dated.

Nothing is saying that they got worse. They just didn't exceed the levels of every other band in the contest. I mean, what you're insinuating is that we should just ditch preliminaries and put all of the area champs into a finals and call it a day, until the finals and all but one area champ is victorious. Some areas are deeper than others. You've been around long enough to know this. Nothing said that bands got worse since area contest the competition just changed

I went to the Rouse Cedar Park game this weekend. I got to see Cedar Park but it was Rouse's homecoming and I didn't wait around for the 2nd half to see the Rouse Band. Here's CP's evolution -

I really hope they leave that trumpet solist un-mic'd. A soloist that is not 100% in your face is not only so very natural but also rewarding. Their forms are really solid for week one and the sound is mature. It's great to see them fielding a larger guard as well. -

How long do they want to keep the secret? First halftime, BOA San Antonio, Grand Nats? Next season? Are you going to get to perform for a crowd ever or is the show so ground breaking that it must never be shown? -
85 seasons...multiple time bridesmaid... locked out of the G7 ... Boston Crusaders finally climbs the mountain and stand on top with an old school throw back type of show to boot. Congrats BAC!! What a ride the last few years has been watching and cheering for them to advance. Another huge kudos goes out to Santa Clara Vanguard. "Don't call it a come back...." And they had a Texas High School link this year with SASI working with their leadership team. Some notables in SASI (Spicer, Vandoren (Vandegrift), Yee (Cedar Park), Mike Howard (Leander ISD), White (Reagan) and a lot more of extremely talented top tier staff. I was happy to see Troopers in 10th. What a season.

I love CHuck's music and DCI's many many takes on it. His talent and creativity will be missed.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the Trooper's journey over the lasst few years. This year's show was an amazing send off.

That Vista Ridge show music literally just gave me chills.... This is the music selection I am most looking forward to this year. Grogh into Lacrimosa via Hurt? Yes please! -
Cedar Park really blew the roof off of Lucas Oil this morning. Big Texas sound matched with their best ensemble sounds of the year. Those kids really turned up this morning. I was sitting in front of 2 arrangers and 2 non-competing directors. They were not mildly but highly surprised by their run. 3A is a two horse race between Castle and Cedar Park. Prosper had a nice run earlier this morning. We should see them Saturday.
