  1. The Woodlands has officially announced to parents they will be attending Grand Nationals.
  2. Rubisco I LOVE reading your takes on shows! I can be there and watch the show and love it, but then I read your take on it and your identifying of the individual elements and it is so expressive and great! You really have a gift for describing things to those of us that don't know the details. I'm so excited for this season... wait till the costumes come!
  3. So bummed I missed the video! I can’t wait to see them in April!
  4. Oh I know!!! This is our last competition season and I’m definitely trying to soak it all in. And figure out how to still be involved when she’s gone next year!
  5. Lol! I told my husband that I didn’t miss the screaming from the back stands!!! definitely still a work in progress for TWHS guards…. But a great first glimpse! Can’t wait till the costumes come in.
  6. I’m just amazed at bands that put out band calendars that far (11 months) in advance. We barely have the next few months calendar’s set up. 😬🤣
  7. finals captions Music Performance: Cypress Woods High School Visual Performance: Bridgeland HS General Effect: Bridgeland HS Percussion Unit: Clear Brook High School Auxiliary Unit: Clear Brook High School
  8. College park had to drop. They are dealing with a lot of kids out with flu. Unfortunately it just was too many to try and still perform without. Spring hs dropped as well. Not sure of their reason.
  9. Wow. With all the legitimate things going on in the schools and fine arts programs getting cut- it boggles my mind that someone would go on a tirade about a show theme. I’m sorry RR is being targeted by this person.
  10. Such an inspiring story! The video circulated through our band family’s Facebook posts this past week. So fantastic!
  11. I loved their show!!! Bummed they didn’t make finals!
  12. 😇 I gotta be confident in my kids that they’ll not drop to 3rd place. It’s going to be a great day tomorrow… hot, but great!! I hope everyone has a great run and is happy with their performances. 🤩
  13. This would be pretty shocking to see…. Not saying it’s impossible, but I’ll say it’s pretty improbable.
  14. I agree, I thought Oak Ridge looked great! I can’t wait to see as they add to it in the next few weeks. All the bands locally suffered from the afternoon rains the last 2 weeks here… so they are playing catch up trying to catch up on practice time lost. Paying for morning rain and afternoon sunshine these next 2 weeks!
  15. Will get to see oak ridge tonight as we have a Thursday night game with them today.
  16. The Pit probably wasn’t brought out because it was still raining. They almost left the woodwinds instruments in cases in the stands. There was a lightning delay and steady rain the entire first half. Cleared up enough to pull the woodwinds instruments out for the performance and then dry and put them back away for the second half.
  17. Yep it doesn’t hurt as much since they’re one of the top teams in the state.
  18. And we are getting slaughtered. 🤣
  19. The Woodlands plays North Shore tomorrow night. Should be a good game. Two teams that are expected to be good. And two bands that are pretty decent.
  20. Nice article they did on the WGI website. https://www.wgi.org/thewoodlandshsthedoorsareopen/
  21. And the best thing to do through prelims is seat hop as people move from the prime center seats… just move on over from the 10-30 yard lines that are available if you don’t make it at door opening- towards to the center ones you want for the final block. Lol.
  22. Depends on what’s more important to you- centered seats near 50 yard line? Or more comfortable to get to and closer viewing? there are no elevators or escalators- it’s all steep steps to get up to the upper deck. I try and get near the front of the upper deck- any higher and I feel like the nosebleed seats are just too high up. the ga seats fill up really fast though… so if you plan on eating outside of the stadium when they clear the stadium between prelims and finals- by the time you get back and in line for the general admission lower seats- you likely could be over at either 20 yard line…. One person probably can get an empty seat in the center area easier than a group though…
  23. You should!! I recommend staying somewhere you can walk over to the dome… it’s easier than dealing with driving and parking and hiking around from the parking lot. Lots of good food along the river walk- but honestly you most of the time want to be inside watching as much as you can. Just plan on fueling up with a good breakfast and live off of stadium food. If Leandermom comes down she usually manages to smuggle some cookies or brownies into the txbands guys in the press box so find her and get a treat. Lol.
  24. As a parent we are looking forward to meeting the new directors. Mrs Perez has shared with us that she has been meeting with Mr Frederick and has been involved in helping with the transition, and as needed going forward. I think there is definitely a feeling of relief from the students. They were starting to worry about getting someone hired- in time for them to be ready for summer Band. The structure and support from the boosters is there and we think he will do a great job starting us on our next chapter of TWHS Band. Hopefully an assistant will be announced soon and that chapter will be ready to be written.
  25. She was in the code black group that won the independent open back almost 20 years ago. She’s been at TWHS since 2014/15 I think? Or somewhere around there. a lot of the techs come from her connections and people she knew with code black
