Things that suck-Annie, the musical. I was placed in this thing, and now that we look at the music, it's composed HORRIBLY! None of the accompinament makes sense! Plus, "Hard Knock Life" has been stuck in my head for a week and it drives me MAD!!!

What's the one band site Texans HAVEN'T taken over yet? Because it seemed like such a good idea at the time!
-
unless, of course, you're the New England Patriots.
-
huh? Why is it that when girls reveal to you they like you, they never talk to you again? (this has happened to me not once, but TWICE!)

ONE-WORD-ONLY!

If they don't do Malaguena, I'm gonna hurl.

My turn! Longer warmups...sure. Bones just might get to pull off "Texas, Our Texas" in SA. (wouldn't that be awesome?) Raise membership...please! I might stop getting cut from corps! Props not included in membership...No. Cadets and Boston will be the only ones benefiting from this. Tough noogies, YEA! and BC! Electronic instruments...no. Not just becuse I hate this idea, they also have bad reasoning. "What if we want church bell sounds?" I'm sorry, isn't that wht BAR CHIMES are for? Position of Visual judge...either way. Don't know if right there is good, but it's one less judge to hit...(darn) Ordinals deciding placement...what? GE judging...don't care. Percussion judging...undecided. Safety over better sound judgement...we'll see.

You Cant Please All of the People, All of the Time
TX Suh-nare replied to euro_euph06's topic in Drum Corps Forum
One thing that adds to that, I believe, is how shows are comprised of several pieces chopped up and blended. Old school drum corps (especially old Garfield Cadets) was all about keeping the piece as authentic and as close to the original as possible, not like modern day Cadets where they chop up stuff like crazy and paste little snippets of motives (mini-melodies) here and there frequently (not just '06, but '04 and '05 too). One reason for the "tuning out" of fans is progress. Most arrangers have veered away from the original composition and made someone elses work their own. It's not always a bad thing. Malaguena isn't originally an orchestral tune, the Scouts arranged it off of a mariachi guitar piece. You just have to be careful with it, or you'll get another show that is unappreciated by the majority of drum corps nerds. Long Story Short: Most people prefer whole steaks to shishkabob, and they prefer most of a piece of music to sound like the original instead of your original idea for it. -
Dude (sry, it rhymed)

I'd say football. Those guys have to practice MORE than we b.n.'s, and they have to either knock someone to the ground or expect to get rattled on a regular basis. Also think about the fact they have to learn all those plays, too. To dumb it up, if you collide with a band member multiple times, you'll probably get cut. If you collide with another football player multiple times, you've had a good day.

Can you see if SFA is the only band to not get taped again? -
What about 2003? That drum break in itself cements them as the best in my mind!

Political Correctness. Whatever happened to Merry Christmas?! I'm tired of hearing "Happy Holidays" when we all mean "Merry Christmas." What, is one Jesus-hater ruining it for the rest of us?!

My freshman year, I WAS the metronome guy! I was a glockenspiel for the first three weeks, I failed, got back in, and was the official sound boy/met (rhymes with stitch). It all worked out in the end. I made snare line -
After watching Cadets '05, anything will seem better. Kinda weird considering where I come from, but I actually appreciated the vocals in the ballad. It was the OPENER I couldn't stand.
