This is going to be a GREAT contest.
Here's my prediction...Heritage or Summit take 1st (they're both great).  Richland will take 3rd (or 1st or 2nd...who knows!!!).

Aledo 1st in Area F?  I'd tap the brakes on that one.

The McKinney Invitational provided some clarity.  Heritage and Summit were amazing and Richland was right there with them, especially in prelims, but fell a little in finals.  
The Birdville contest will be really interesting because several Area F bands (Joshua, Cleburn, Creekview, Brewer, Midlothian, Aledo, Burleson Centennial, Azle and Burleson HS will all be there.  Smart since that's where Area will be held a week later.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say, right now, these would be my top 4 (if only 4 make it out of Area)...if it's 5, I'll add one later.

BOA looks at music and marching but places a big emphasis in the overall show…it’s classified as general effect.  The “acting”,  the props, the flags are a major part of the judging.
UIL is purely marching and music. Judges don’t evaluate the show itself.  It’s only how well you march and play the music as a band and individually.

From the looks of the lineup, this will be a good teaser for Area F
Colleyville Heritage, Richland and Mansfield Summit will all be watching each other closely.

I agree completely.  When my son was 8 (8!!) he was in a league where a coach on another team went for the kill ever time.  He ran the score up on other teams....remember, these kids are 8.
 
The next year, he drafted my son.  Needless to say, my son didn't play baseball that year....I pulled him from that team quicker than you could blink.
 
A few weeks ago, our director was talking to some parents after a finals performance.  He said "1st place, 10th place....doesn't matter.  THAT's the show we wanted to perform".  The pride he took in his kids performing well could be seen on his face.  That's what I want from a director.

The amazing thing is that it could have been more Texas dominated....what if Reagan, Marcus, Bowie, Keller, Bell, FloMo, etc. had gone to Indy?
 
Texas is the center of the marching band universe, if you ask me....probably has been for a few years.

Bingo!!!  I want video for my kids to 1) watch for themselves and 2) have it to show their kids years from now.  I actually found video of some of my band's performances in the mid-80s....I was thrilled!!!  I showed my kids just how much better they are now and how much things have changed.
 
Not only that, there are parents on the loading crews and who help push equipment that don't ever get to see shows from above.  We'd like to see the show, too.
 
There has to be a happy medium somewhere.

Flo's complete monopoly on the streaming and recording of the marching arts is incredibly frustrating. Especially due to it being nearly twice as expensive and half as good as videos used to be (ESPECIALLY in terms of stream quality). The fact that their extreme price buys me a stream that can't decide if it's 1080p or 144p, or if it's recorded on high quality sound equipment or a flip phone is disgraceful. That's not even mentioning the adds that crashed my stream after every band (exclusively rocket mortgage I might add) or the fact that we get no archive of any kind. It's shamefully bad flo. For the sake of the students, parents, and Educators, get it together.

It’s over. I’m done fighting the battle to keep my videos up. I understand that in order to maintain your copyright you must pursue infringers, but a lot of the time it seems like they forget they’re making all this money off kids. All of this money comes from kids in an activity, for fun. Many of these kids never get a chance to see their show from above, to see the product of their hard work for months and months, hours and hours. They put in countless rehearsals, countless reps, and despite this, the quality recordings of their end products are hidden behind a paywall with an exorbitant price. It saddens me that some kids will never get to see their show because of what seems to be corporate greed. But at the end of the day, I expected nothing more, nothing less. Thank you for all your support over this season.

I have passed along your post to both he and his dad. Thanks for the post, he's very appreciative and dad is, of course, incredibly proud. Congrats to all of team Texas for all placing in the top 9. Congrats to Vandegrift for bringing the eagle back to Texas. Let's see if we can keep it here.

And I have no idea if the trombone player for CTJ or his parent or anyone affiliated with him are on this board....BUT....
 
If that kid does ANYTHING but share his musical talent in adult career, it will be a waste.  I've seen some other-generational, high school talent before but that kid was far and away the best player I've ever seen.  I was speechless watching that feature. 
 
And someone tweeted that it was improv???  Are...you....kidding me?!?!? 
 
Seriously, I would hate to see talent like that wasted on something other than a music career.
