Honestly, our directors, and the upperclassmen try to keep that kind of stuff under control, but there are a few bad apples. I appologize if anybody in my band said anything or did anything to offend anyone...you can rest assured that I've gotten on many a kids' cases about rudeness. -

or last year then they all looked like dominatrixes (dominatrixi? plural? buh?) honestly, i think that little freshman girl made it even worse with her little "Wardrobe malfunction" -

for some reason it never rains on our practice, it stops right before we start and starts up again a litle after we finish. I swear our director has some sort of swith in his room that controls the weather. we asked him one day and he, very seriously, said "yes" and sat there as if waiting for another question. then again, he laughs when someone says "finger your parts" (or atleast he used to) -

Thoughts on BOA Houston
supermanuel replied to guardcapn07's topic in Everything Music: Marching, Concert, Auditions and more
only bands that stuck outin my mind (keep in mind that I was only in the stands from about 3 till awards and didn't get to watch any finals bands) (i think it was) Clear Lake- refelction show, not a big fan of the big shiny plates that are drifting about the field they were cool at the end but distracting the rest of the show. good music, nice little dance mirror dance break along with the the guard girls doing their mirror thing at the end of the ballad. overall a good show interesting ending Judson- I'm a big fan of Elvis and this show; great music, pretty good drill and the shout section was incredibly awesome. it's a shame that the microphones weren't quite working during prelims but i hear they were good during finals. good show, nice sound (not to mention an incredibly attractive drum major that owes me a shirt) it was nice Lamar Consolidated- I never thought it would happen but this was a show about electronic music (i know bands do it all the time, but i've never seen a show just flat out say "we're going to use alot of synth") not one of my favorite shows, honestly, there wasn't much playing from the band. for being such a pit heavy show you would think the pit would go a little more wild while playing, they dind't seem to into it Hidalgo- I didn't think I would like a show abotu the Incrediblyes, but WOW that was good stuff. The low brass soli was well done and quite impressive Churchill- I'm not going to lie, I didn't pay attention to anything other than the guard. (and their little wardrobe malfunction) it was windy, so they weren't as clean as they usually are, but it was still good stuff (i'm no good at this review stuff) -

It was the same announcer as Area two years ago (sadly, I remember the voice) I think she needed a little more than some redbull! We decided it would be better if she had a soundboard with prerecorded, excited-sounding audio "Next in today's competition is the..." -

actually, i'm pretty sure Cy Falls was penalized for going over time, i'm not sure jsut how much over they went, but i know they did. congrats to both pearland and lake (can't wait for the game next month, last time we were there the lights went out during the game, great fun) -
we have a record 8 failures this six weeks, it doesn't seem like a lot but they were all competition marchers and we had to replace them until the 3 weeks (the week of the "Houston" BOA regional)

we haven't marked our sets since my sophomore year according to our director it's bettr to learn that way becuase you're not trying to look down to find a spot, but you're more concerned about the people around you and keeping good spacing and all that jazz

How Many Reeds do you go through in 1 Week?
supermanuel replied to rdzsaxplaya's topic in Section Heaven
really? i use 4 at a time, numbered (1,2, etc.) and rotate them different one each day. they usually last me a while (longer during concert season since we don't have the harshness of the stands and all that jazz. -

supermanuel replied to stewiemylove's topic in General Off-Topic
a lot of people at my shcool have heard of (and love) DCfC. we went to see them in Houston not too long ago. MOST AMAZING CONCERT! (it deserved it's own line) when Ben whipped out the accoustic and played I'll Follow You Into the Dark, it almost borught tears to my eyes. but to get back to the topic, I've had If Work Permits by The Format stuck in my head for about three days now, actually, pretty much all of their new Album stuck in my head, Oceans, Time Bomb, Pick Me Up, The Compromise. why am i up so early? -

it wasn't that it was hard to understand, it was just really akward to read OK, ustedes viven el los Estados Unidos. This sentence makes sense it's fine. ?Por que no se encantanlos? Wow, this question is oddly worded. What are you trying to say? "
