  1. Well, that all depends on how well things seem to be going at teh time. Right now, we are still on the high note of our last competition. If, say, we get in our freshmen and they just really really suck and we start trying to do stuff and can't get anything done, you can bet I won't be around making empty promises. This is just played off of what we have to go on, that is, this past season. And your comment doesn't seem mean at all. Don't feel like you need to hold back anything with me. I'm a pretty straight forward person, so I don't mind if others are blunt with me.
  2. Lmao, a lot of people enjoy being in our band. We enjoy ourselves, and we do well. And we are driven by pride. As I said in the quote quadratic used... And fine moose, do what you like. I really don't have any concern for what you think...
  3. I understand. But the extra instrumentation (woodwinds, etc. ) can add to the show as well. But yes, I must say in 99% of the cases, these adaptaions are far from their bigger cousins in the DCI world.
  4. I understand what you are saying... but it contradicts his iron fist campaign against pride, it seems. Our band is certainly not driven by discipline, or even really the desire to be better for the sake of being better... we work because we want to win because we have a high level pride in our program. This is our primary driving factor. And if you can't accept that, then fine. But, surely you wpn't tell me that when you beat a band who you practice, at most, half as much as on average, that you don't have a huge feeling of honor and pride for your prowess. Maybe you just can't understand; but that's ok, it doesn't make any differenceto me.
  5. umm.... what? Are you saiying the part you quoted is hyping? If so, I think you are sorely mistaken. Once again, I must reiterate, we will see how it turns out next season, but we go into it with a strong confidence. IF we get our asses handed to us, then you can say "Haha! Told you so! Pure hype", but if we own, I think then we'll know whether or not it had any basis in fact.
  6. Hmmm, region isn't over yet, but we were only beaten by Richland in numbers of people going to phase 2 in our region. We'll see how it plays out.
  7. Lol, all I can say is look at my last post.
  8. Lmao, no, we don't.... but really it's not our entire band.. just our section. But like I said, we'll see how well founded our pride is come next season.
  9. Ok, well, you can only work on one part at a time, but you can just click on the top of the piano roll window where it has the name of the instrument to switch to the note matrix of another instrument quickly. Oh, and it's possible you set it up wrong; are you using Orchestral as an actuall channel? If so, by default it will only play the first channel. You have to use the midi out channels as extensions of it. OH! Right, you have to check and see what port the midi outs are on (Probably zero), and then open up orchestral and set it's port (top right hand corner) to that same port number. In order to do that, you have to export to a midi file (which should work fine, because in a way that's how it is already set up) and take that midi file and import it into finale, noteworthy, sibelius, or any notation software like that. Then you can print it out from there.
  10. No, you don't understand, his chord progressions are often so similar that it's tough to tell his original shows apart. That discredits him to a huge extent in my point of view. I'm afraid I am unfamiliar with those two. I have performed 2 key Poulan shows and heard many others, but these other two I have had little contact with. But what I get from what you are saying is that there is more than one person selling subpar product for premium prices. It's simply that I am only aware of Poulan that I am dogging on him. Psh, a good arranger maybe.. but beyond that... I mean, come on. I do see a certain level of aptness in his arrangments in this context. However, not to insult arrangers out there, but I would say that the prestige of arranging versus original composition is miniscule. But that's only my opinion. And what's with everyoen doing Shostakovich pieces, but no one doing his Opus 110a!? It's an amazing song, and one of his most important works; he originally wrote it as his suicide note in a sense, but Stalin lost power before he got the chance to carry it out. It is written for a chamber symphony, but I believe it could be turned into a powerful, as well as technical piece of marching music. IT would be challenging, though.... definetly... http://www.epitonic.com/files/reg/songs/mp...o_(Attacca).mp3 <-- the faster movement http://www.epitonic.com/files/reg/songs/mp...10a_(Largo).mp3 <--- the slower Just put a fake email address in.
  11. Lmao, not in the trunmpet section. You should see our Section Shirt... It's friggin pimp, lol. You know the poster from the old star wars movies where luke is like holding the ligthsaber above his head and the plane is in the background? Well, it's like that except it's a trumpet instead of a light saber and it says, in the Star Wars font, "MHS Trumpets-- Return of the Egos", lol. ANd on the back it says Lmao, all those quotes are from previous year's shirts... so yeah, it's a traditional of arrogance really. But in actuality, if you actually read his post, he isn't hyping the band; he is merely saying that he feels like it isn't getting enough credit. But it doesn't matter. Time will tell.
  12. Lmao, that's funny... it all seemed quite resolved to me. But hey, if you wanna come in here with your five posts and try and stir up trouble that's your business. I've had rather enough though.
  13. I see... yeah, we did pretty well at UIL... that was a nice performance. And our football team actually did well at Duncanville, lmao. Basically the only game they won that wasn't against another team who hadn't won a single game. You would think out of 4000 kids they would be able to draw up a decent football team.
  14. Lmao, I only said that that's the impression I got. I must say, though, 6 times? I'm impressed. WEre they spaced through the season or...? (Simply out of curiousity, of course) when did you see us?
  15. And it most certainly was not watered down. Don't believe me? Listen to the recording of Ostinato.
  16. Lmao, guess the dates! Winner gets a free show with all rights to it written by yours truly.
  17. That's true, but man did I hate their show.
  18. Mr. Hart's son is in Phantom Regiment.
  19. Watching us talk or watching us march? There's a big difference. And Xenon, I have no choice but to assume that you were at North Texas, on the 50, at the top of the stands for both of our performances. Is this true?
  20. Lmao, yeah, that did come across a little badly. I did mean the timbre of the instrumetns and whatnot. Edirol Orchestral is clearly superior.
  21. Yeah, if you wanna use a crappy, inefficient interface and not get anything decent written. Listen to my music. Now listen to yours. Who do you think is a more credible source of information?
  22. I would love to get three other trumpets (or just other brass instruments) and perform a contrapunctus from Bach's Art of Fugue....
  23. Lmao, no problem. Ok, first off, you need to make sure you ran the crack file I provided. The FL Studio should no longer be a demo file. Second, once you've gotten that for sure, you need to install the Orchestral into this directory: Program files/FL Studio/Plugins/Vst or something similar to that. Open up Fl studio, and add a handful of midi channels (Right click in the step sequencer-->add channel---> Midi out). Now, click on the button near the top of the screen that says FX (it's got some graphs illustrated on it) and make sure you're in the main FX track (its the far left). Now, click the arrow on one of the empty horizontal slots and go to select, and then to the top of the list where it says, in bold, "More...". Now, click refresh, fast scan, and it should end up with just a few new ones, and they will show up red. Orchestral should be on eof them. Double click on it. Now, you're setup. I would save the file real quick. Just call it "Template", or something like that. NOw, The orchestral plug in has different channels. Each of the midi outs has a channel associated with it. These channels in the mid outs determine which instrument channel the orchestral plug in uses. You can change the settings in each Orchestral channel too... just mess around with that until you've got the right parts you want. Now, once you get the right instruments in the right channels, and the midi outs associated with them (by matching the channel numbers) save this as your new template (just hit ctrl s). Ok, now, you need to open the orchestral plug in again (if you closed it) and click system-->file--->performance save and save a file somewhere where you can find it later. This holds all the data for your instrumentation for later after you close and reopen your song between writing sessions. Now, you can start writing! Just right click the instrument you want to play certain things and click piano roll to write the riffs. Each little square is a 16th note... It's set up a little different than finale though; you see, you use different patterns to hold different melodic ideas and you can use them to loop or just for general sequencing purposes. Look at the example projects that came with FL (their in the folder projects/coolstuff) if you don't quite get the pattern/song set up. Oh, and if you want to just play the pattern or play the entire song, there are two buttons next to the play button; pat is pattern and song is song... yeah, just thought I would mention that, because it took me forever to figure that out, and I almost killed myself or someone else because I was stuck on pattern mode, lmao. If you have anymore questions, just ask.
  24. Well, you would know about stereotypes... I mean, look at yourself... LMFAO!
