Yes, but the one competition we faced them in we took the percussion caption strongly ahead of them. -

North Texas Marching Contest
Fortisimo replied to Xukaniz's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Lol, yeah, I saw him from the stands. He marched pretty well for having a broken arm. We have like 10 altrenates from most of the sections. -
Lol, I know. Lucy Tuning Spiral; This is how lucy tuning works. It is based off of a circular temprament....

Haha! IT IS COMPLETE!

Well, there is variety.. there are slow parts and half times built into many of the sections, and there is one slow movement... -

Well, I would say that a well played (which is rare) French Horn does have a very nice sound in general, and I use it quite a lot to give a nice full sound in the primary chords of my compostions. They also sound nice in counterpoint with trumpets. Of course, I must say that I also love the sound and intensity of the trumpet. Trombones are alright... so long as they don't blast too much... they can add a nice low brass punch... I hate picolos. They make me want to kill something. Anything. They are ok for an effect every once in a while, like a quick solo, or adding tension on top of a huge chord... other than that... flutes to me always sound pretty airy, and they ALWAYS have vibrato. What is up with that? It sounds retarded when you do it constantly... maybe I'm just ranting... But what do I like most? Tubular Bells. Oh yes... so nice... they have a beautiful sound. Lol, but that's just me.

And an even more important question, how can you possibly like it? Lmao, I like things that are out of the ordinary, especailly in the realm of music, but microtonal makes me want to reach into my ear canals and rip my own eardrums out. I'm afraid that if I listen to it too long I will lose any ability to tune to real notes... Of cousrse, then I might like it... Have a listen. But be warned... it's microtonal... http://tonalsoft.com/downloads/music/prent...nd-mountain.mp3 For those of you not familiar with microtonal music.. its basically using frequencies instead of notes to write music... That's why it all sounds out of tune; it is. Theoretically, the chords and melodies and whatnot (if you can call them that) are in tune with each other... It kills me though... just listen... and be afraid.. very afraid... However, I shouldn't bash all microtonal music.. there is a good, clean branch known as "Lucytuning"... it is a well founded, and actually good sounding tuning scale similar to the traditional scale. Here is a song written lucy tuned: http://www.harmonics.com/lucy/lsd/hurray.mp3

Yeah... Oh, here's the list of sections in the show: 1. Intro 2. Mvt 1: Blizzard 3. Mvt 2: Brave New World? 4. Mvt 3: Blood Hail and Fire 5. Mvt 4: The Four Horsemen 6. Restatement of Intro and Minor Canon 7. Mvt 5: Death and rebirth 8. Conclusion Here's how to tell what they are: 1. It'sat the beginning... of course... 2. Starts at the quiet spot right before the tubular bells and xylophone solo, right before it gets realy friggin' loud 3.The slow part after the tubular bell + xylophone soli and brass build 4. After the pause after Brave New World?. Starts with the repeated note in low brass and the french horn chord. 5. Starts with the 5 octave chromatic/ augmented chord build up and slow augmented chord hits. 6. Starts when you hear the intro again... instead of the original halftime part of the intro now though, there is a minor canon of sorts. 7.Occures right after the modified, minor extended, authentic cadence. It starts as a 3-4 section. Notice, the Death is focused in on the accelerando section, while rebirth occures right afterwards and is presented as themes from each of the different parts of the show, except modified to major chord structures. 8. Jsut a standard conclusion witha reiteration of the transition between Blizzard and Brave New World?. -

The second movement is the only solid chunk of slow part... it is meant to satisfy the bare minmum for the boring parts... lmao, I hate slow movements, so I find it hard to bring myself to write them. -
Hoolllyyy crap, I finally got a chance to really sit down and work on SOAC for the first time in like 2 weeks, and so I finished it this afternoon. It's pretty friggin' awesome, I must say. I mean, I reallly like it. You may not. But that's ok. I'm still really proud of this show. Here, have a listen, tell me what you think! So, without further adue, Suite of Assorted Cataclysms: http://rapidshare.de/files/9006534/Suite_o...clysms.mp3.html

Sounds pretty friggin' sweet... I think they still have the banner from that year up in their stadium.
-
Lmfao, you would say that Julian. Stories from the old home, eh? I kid, of course. But yeah, it does sound pretty cool.

It works for me... and they are friggin hilarious! You can see your band tower in the background of the mucky duck one.. lol, I love the end of that one...

2006 Fall Marching Season
Fortisimo replied to Sicemb's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
I don't deny our pride to any extent. I simply don't see why it bothers you so much that you have to get all up in arms about it. If you had just ignored that other Martin person's comments instead of pitching a fit about them, then none of this would have taken place. I'm just as willing to drop it as anyone else, but since you all seem to love pressing the issue so much, I have no choice but to respond. So, if you've had enough, then just don't say anything about it at all, and we won't say anything about it either. I'll make sure to keep our people in line. -
Welp, it's warmed back up pretty much. mostly low 60's for the next ten days for us =).

Lmao, ya think? It's pretty clear that such is the case. Lmao, it's funny though, people are REALLY sensitive this type of thing and I have a hard time understanding why... Oh, and mbui, say what you want, but I would suggest that you learn how to use dependent clauses properly.... ...and secondly, I suggest you rethink you're argument here. More achievement=more pride; not pride = 1/achivement; that's just plain illogical. our pride doesn't denote a lack of achievment, as you suggest, it is merely a symptom of it. -
