Whenever I think of jazz, i picture a shadow sillhouette of someone playing a trumpet or saxophone. I think that would look cool, with like music notes around it. Or it could look cheesy, haha I don't know.

Hahah I had the same question. I asked the BA mom next to me and she said they're painted. The socks are also half black/white. There's a mom that takes half a black sock and half a white sock and sews them together. There's some band parent dedication right there.

I see what you're saying. Are they just supposed to be judging on music execution? Technically a judge could turn around and not even watch the show? Or is it more of a complete package thing?

Alot of people have said this before, and I know it's cliche, but these are the very very top bands in Texas. Everyone has improved sooo much, it's probably EXTREMELY difficult for them to place 30 bands in the exact same order. I mean, when you think about it, the difference between the 5th place band in music and the 15th place band in music, in this state, is probably next to nothing.

I love fast drill, pass throughs, and rotating boxes. Lots and lots of bands are starting to use chanting & singing now, too. I think people are trying to find new ways to make unique musical sounds that don't come from a musical instrument.
