UIL 6A Area C 2025
RandomGuardPerson and one other reacted to tsitp fan for a topic
not exactly berkners ex head director had a pretty well connection with Pearce as I have read since he had kids that went there. And Pearces old director and the assistant director both went to open a new school in prosper. And from what ive heard he brings a lot of positive energy. And im sure this won't harm jj Pearce at all, and honestly they might have a chance at state if they do super well like they did last year.2 points -
just thought it'd be nice to have this here, for next season.1 point

Not many people know this, but a new high school in Lamar CISD Gene Thomas HS is set to open in Fall 2025, and it will be part of this area! The new band director is coming from Fulshear, and I can’t wait to see how they do!1 point -

They were at SA a few years back. Small A Class band. Good sound, great group. They are the only A group here I think. Not quite finals level, but they put out some good sound.1 point -

I've been SUPER impressed with Kaufman in the fall and now as an honor band finalist. They were a solid 4A state band in 2023 and have just exploded in 5A in an incredibly tough area and class. They're certainly on my radar as a spoiler this fall.1 point

Take one day off and everybody posts show themes 🫠 These are all super cool tho! The Good, the Bad, and the Galactic: I'm super interested in seeing how this pans out! Is it like a space cowboy theme? Anyways, I know that it's gonna look super cool! (I'm biased though, I love The Planets) Pipelines: The show banner thingy looks super cool! Does anyone know if Austin is bringing back their guard or will it be dance for an indefinite time? Alterego: I would die for this show theme! If its about duality or polar opposites or alter egos, I really want to see how this is communicated with the band and gaurd's uniform and choreo. Feather Brained: I've also had a bird show! The music looks super cool, and it's super colorful! Do y'all have uniforms with feathers, or will it be like feather patterned but not actual feathers? If it's feathers, good luck with the shedding. Metalmorphosis: Okay Elkins! I really like the idea, or what I've seen from the Insta post y'all have. Looking forwards to seeing y'all at contest! Kinetic: This theme's got super cool potential, and I love the linear abstract pop neon colors! I already know the uniforms are about to eat that up 😋 Super cool shows all across the board, and I know it's going to be a treat watching everyone perform at Area this year! I'm also looking forwards to seeing all of the uniforms (mainly Alterego and Feather Brained), and I bet any guard choreo will eat up! Good luck everyone1 point -

I feel like next season’s gonna be even more unpredictable than this past season, but that’s probably just me 😝1 point -
All the shows this year seem interesting for sure, I can’t wait to see what Pearland puts on the field, maybe Dawson can dethrone them as area champion considering how close they got to it at area last year1 point

This actually seems like a really cool concept and could go places potentially even state if executed properly and cleaned well enough (and Pasadena Memorial has been getting a lot better at cleaning over the past years) so I’m really excited for this along with the other shows posted on the forum (especially Dawson’s it looks REALLY interesting)1 point -
This is the show we are presenting for the 2025 Maverick band called "Kinetic". This piece features music from: David Maslanka Sara Bareilles John Adams. The music that they let us hear was a rough draft of what they are basing it from then plan to tweak something that they told us they'll add is a brass double tounging feature. I am extremely excited where we can take this piece(hopefully state for the first time in district history). Go Mavs1 point

Hey, y'all! Here's to respond to y'all's comments: Our show this year is going to be veryyy different (like not like our usual shows different). It's a show we've been visually and musically wanting to do for a long time. When the show is actually revealed and worked on at the end of May (we have a end of year preview camp), I will tell y'all what it's about. But, I have a lot of hope for this show and I hope y'all enjoy our 2025-2026 show just as much as I will!1 point -

This stadium is a HUGE upgrade from Challenger Columbia Stadium - Clear Creek ISD in Webster...where you're seated a mile from each band (hard to hear in quiet music moments) and required to sit in "microwave" conditions from the reflected sun off the shiny seats during the day. Freedom Field is my favorite sight-line stadium in the whole state and one of my top 3 in terms of overall fan experience I've experienced. #2 is C.H. Collins Stadium - Denton ISD. #3 is Legacy Stadium - Katy ISD (no individual seatbacks though). I've not experienced the new Children’s Health Stadium - Prosper ISD or McKinney ISD Stadium so those might be great too. Hope to experience both someday soon. The protected conditions of the Alamodome has some real benefits during extreme temperatures or poor weather conditions to be sure, but sight lines and sound quality are debatable indeed.1 point

Can we take just a minute to focus on all the cool and unique show ideas? I'm gonna say Sam Rayburn had such a cool idea with the Medusa theme, and I loved how they literally carried the flutist off the field after she "got turned to stone". 🐍 Clear Brook also spinning the band kid inside the prop was so cool! Tianlong (Idk which school) was so cool! I loved the little dragon bridges, but it would have been SOOO cool to have a dragon head stage for soloists to stand on (that would probably cost a fortune tho ) I didn't understand Pearland's show (especially the circle things at the end) so can someone enlighten me? From what I figured, it has some sort of Greek theme. In any case, 14 sousaphones is crazy work, and a 50 person guard (maybe 40 or 60, I'm not good at counting) is actually crazy 😮 Loved Cloud 9 from Ridgepoint! Such a cool theme, and the guard members are so nice 🥰 All in all, so many bands getting slept on because they weren't finalists or in the finalist bubble (not taking the finalists down or saying these bands should've made finals, just want to appreciate all the show ideas!) Congrats to all the state bands btw! (Loved the slides in Dawson's show!)1 point -

What do the top bands do to be successful?
Tailgate88 reacted to takigan for a topic
What makes Leander ISD so universally successful? 1. Strong administrative support. This is a given. Having all the instruments you need, the staff you need, the facilities you need....this comes in handy to streamlining instruction and increasing teaching effectiveness. 1. Strong elementary fine arts programs. LISD involves their kids in music but also in theatre (which not a lot of elementary schools have) as well as after school children's choirs and other programs. And the kids aren't just singing songs...they're being taught music theory from a very young age. By the time they go into band most kids can read a staff, subdivide rhythms and have a basic understanding of solfege. This allows for beginner band classes to move faster which leads to... 2. Strong middle school band programs. LISD has arguably the strongest middle school band in the country right now (Artie Henry MS), and 2 others have been Honor Band finalists in the last 5 years (Four Points and Stiles). Most of the varsity groups at these schools are capable of reading Grade 4 literature (which is the minimum standard for a 6A top band). When the majority of 9th graders at each High School are already playing at the minimum standard for bands made up of 11th and 12th graders, then there's no where else to go for the next 3 years but above and beyond...and this capability is exponentially multiplied by having.... 3. Visionary band directors...and lots of them. Everyone wants to work in Leander because of how well supported their programs are, which means they're able to hire the best teachers. And if everyone has the best teachers, someone ends up becoming the best band. 4. When the best band comes from a large district and every band has the desire to beat the best band, the best band inspires all the other bands to become even better. As a result, everyone becomes insanely good.1 point -
Enrollment lists have been published for everything besides Nationals. Will include San Antonio's list as courtesy but I don't plan on editing changes on all threads so I'm not going to overextend for all the others. Seems like most pre-contest discussion for BOA events happens on HornRank's forums anyhow, and this place really lights up more on contest day.
