Biased but I wouldn’t sleep on Shadow Creek making finals. 2024 6A Honor Band finalist (over all of these except Dawson) and four time area marching finalist. 6th in the area in 2022.

These are just my observations after seeing each of their shows

Yeah I had this same thought. They’ve only been upwards since Covid, and haven’t missed state since. So unless they have a weird start, which they did in 22 not making finals at Katy and still made state, I so no reason for them to not me in the conversation for the last two spots.

Westwood is also going through director changes. In fact, Westlake just got Westwood’s director, and they’re phenomenal this year. Best early season Westlake in recent memory for me.

Kaufman used to be in area b 4a.. and oh my lord they’ve gotten SO MUCH STRONGER I could really see them making the leap to state, their program is definitely on an upwards trajectory! With that being said this is my prediction: 1. Lakeview Centennial 2. Highland Park 3. Kaufman (really good feeling about them) 4. Poteet Yes obviously kaufman only made state 1 time in 4A, but you have to keep in mind they were in area B and consistently 1st alternate

I assure everyone that this is going to be a year to watch that will decide the future of this area, and it's competitors. Might be entering a new era for Area E...

Yes but when dealing with some as serious as racism, we shouldn’t be early to judge. While I understand the concerns some here may have, there have been plenty of cultural based shows and none of them have ever had any issues with being racist. Think Haltom 21, Ig Colleyville Heritage 18, and probably plenty more. And just because they might not be playing Asian music, the directors of the band are not stupid enough to put out a show that would in any way make the band look bad. It’s best if everyone holds any personal judgment of what this show could until we have our first look. And while Shadow Creek is a good program, it’s not like it’s some heavy hitter like Vandy or Hebron doing this show. Let’s just focus on the positives of what this show could be rather than criticizing something we haven’t even seen.

All I can say is this is not a good look… A show about Chinese mythology not using any genuine Chinese composers or music and then using a Japanese composer instead. This whole show is giving wildly racist vibes and the kids deserve better.
