  4. Between the time posting broke on this website and it coming back, Melissa came up with a SECOND contest, and SOLD IT OUT already. Lineup: Bells HS Blue Ridge HS Bonham HS Brock HS Canton HS Caddo Mills HS China Spring HS Cooper HS Collinsville HS Commerce HS Farmersville HS Ferris HS Grand Saline HS Howe HS Honey Grove HS Kaufman HS Kennedale HS Krum HS North Lamar HS Paris HS Pine Tree HS Pleasant Grove HS Pottsboro HS Rains HS Rivercrest HS Sunnyvale HS Sulphur Springs HS Van Alstyne HS Valley View HS Wills Point HS Wolfe City HS This features last year's 2A State Champion Rivercrest, 2A State Finalist Cooper, 3A State Finalist Howe, 4A State Finalists Sulphur Springs, China Spring, North Lamar, 4A State Participants Krum, Pine Tree, Valley View, Canton, and 5A State Participant Kaufman (now 4A as well) For what the original contest has in a stacked lineup, this is a similarly stacked lineup of small school programs.
  5. So....... Things have developed a bit. The most current participant list on the site, from January 20th is: Argyle HS Berkner HS (Richardson) Braswell HS (Denton) Burleson Centennial HS Celina HS The Colony HS Forney HS Garland HS James Martin HS (Arlington) Hebron HS Heritage HS (Frisco) Highland Park HS Lakeview Centennial HS (Garland) Lebanon Trail HS (Frisco) Liberty HS (Frisco) Little Elm HS Lone Star HS (Frisco) McKinney HS Memorial HS (Frisco) North Forney HS Panther Creek HS (Frisco) Prosper HS Rock Hill HS (Prosper) Wylie East HS Added: Berkner, Braswell, Burleson Centennial, Forney, Prosper, and Rock Hill. And...... drop Bell. We found out a few days later why Bell dropped. The BOA Bedford contest moved up to this same weekend. So..... there's a lot of unknowns as to what parts of this list are still accurate. I'm quite upset this happened because I thought for SURE this was the contest I was going to travel for this weekend.
  6. Thread's gonna need a rename! Date change!
  7. Yesterday
  8. Sorry if I started this topic before anyone else who was planning to 😅 just super excited about this season and now that the site is back up it can finally be discussed!
  9. I'll give $100 to any band doing a Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Show!
  10. Would be totally down! Bummed that Hebron appears to be skipping this one but I'm excited to see FloMo, provided they are indeed going.
  11. I think we are! Thank you @Clarinot!
  12. Last week
  13. Earlier
  14. anyone know which bands are coming and share your predictions
  15. it's time for directors to start designing their 2026 shows
  16. Not much to do here until realignment... or April/May... or July... so I'll just put some of my favorite shows from this area from this past 2025 season A&M Consolidated - "Patterns in My Mind" Kempner - "Unlocked" Lamar Consolidated - "Timeless" Randle - "Auroric Dances" Porter - "Spindletop: A Portrait in Oil" Galena Park - "Enjoy The Silence" (? i may be misremembering this show name) West Fork - "Ad Astra" Splendora - "Splendorous" Baytown Lee - "Fantastic Voyage" Kingwood Park - "Oh! The Places You'll Go!" Spring Woods - "A Day in the Factory"
  17. Hoping that 5A E gets changed in some way so there won't be 45 bands in the area... 😥 not guaranteed that every band will make it to area but there would still be close to 30 making it with new bands moving in from both 4A and 6A
  18. UPDATE FOR ALL SCHOOLS IN GARLAND ISD: Garland (dropped to 5a) reported 2,144 Lakeview Centennial (5a) reported 2,080 Naaman Forest (5a) reported 1,822 North Garland (6a) reported 2,903 Rowlett (dropped to 5a) reported 2,024 Sachse (6a) reported 2,866 South Garland (5a) reported 1,915 Official site of enrollment numbers for UIL: https://www.uiltexas.org/files/alignments/Submitted_Enrollments_10_31_128.pdf
  19. Am a percussionist so that will influence mine. Definitely Maslanka Symphony No. 4. Played a keyboard part on that, some wicked fast runs in there and the drumming section was pretty challenging. Mackey Wine Dark Sea wasn't quite as hard but still pretty challenging (played toms). But was a BLAST. Probably the most fun band piece I got to play, just get to wail away as loud as possible at the end of that piece. Most of my challenging ones came in college since I went to a 4A, but in high school the Persichetti Symphony for Band is probably the top of this list for HS, but wasn't absurdly hard. Super fun xylophone part. Percussion ensemble wise played some VERY difficult stuff in college. Got to play a lot of the popular ones. Kyoto by John Psathas and Palace of Nine Perfections (Marimba 1 on both) were probably the two most challenging parts I ever got. But insanely fun. Didn't get as hard of parts but did Prelude to Paradise by Jacob Remington and Crown of Thorns by David Maslanka as well which are two that probably pop up at the top of those lists.
  20. What day in Feb does UIL announce the new Areas for marching/TMEA? Also does anyone know when Waxahachie is putting up that new high school. I think I heard they are finishing constuction in 2027 and splitting the current highschool in half. Will that put Spirit of Wax in 5A?
  21. i'm going to go with 1. Lebanon Trail or Lone Star, LT peaked this year after missing state last year and they are definitely on the rise plus LS is probably going to want revenge after placing 8th in finals. If not a Frisco school, then Argyle 2. Argyle. The show design for this year was questionable but they have a chance for top 3 next year. If not Argyle then LS 2nd and Argyle for 3rd 3. Burleson Centennial: consistent finalist band for the past two years and since most of the finalist bands are moving to 6A they have a BIG chance of making top 5 4. Richland/McCallum: these two were 2 points away from each other in finals, I consider this a tossup 5. Poteet: tied with McCallum and unfortunately lost the tie but they are definitely finals material i'm starting to run out of commentary lol so i'll just list the rest 6. Friendswood 7. Lake Belton/Barbers Hill 8. Hendrickson 9. A&M Consolidated 10. Harlingen South 11. Roma 12. Midlothian i'm relatively new to the state marching contest so if these are inaccurate, i deeply apologize 😭
  22. Birdville is back at it with a banger of a line up Wylie East Grapevine Lake Belton Byron Nelson Keller Colleyville Heritage The Colony Chisholm Trail Eagle Mountain Sachse Highland Park North Mesquite
  23. One group I'm really interested in seeing progress in is Sachse, being that their current director won 4A Honor Band during the last cycle. 6A is a different animal though, especially since they will have to compete against other Region 2 groups - I'd be shocked if they make the state round, but if they did pretty well in the area round, that would be a success in my eyes.
  24. i mean i don't know, these are simply gut feeling predictions and how i feel about each band.
  25. I thinks that's low-key possible, but you never know how things are going to go with bands like birdville, Richland, and Belleville, losing a large senor class.
