  3. Not many people know this, but a new high school in Lamar CISD Gene Thomas HS is set to open in Fall 2025, and it will be part of this area! The new band director is coming from Fulshear, and I can’t wait to see how they do!
  4. Wow - coming back and bumping this thread that I started... *gulp* 10 years ago.... After trying a few different things, and I won't throw shade at any of them, I'll say we have been very happy with Fund-Team.com. It's a direct donation via email/text model and they only take 5% for processing fees. We've had very successful campaigns the past going on seven years now I believe with them.
  5. Summer Band has started! Let the countdown to Bandtober begin!
  6. Think about Rouse, Cedar Park, Leander and Vista all in the same area.
  7. The Texas Band Director Page is private and I am not a band director. I'm not too knowledgeable about the requirements of what makeups the qualifications for the Honor Band Process. If what you are saying is true then I could see numerous small schools getting snubbed because many of the GT Academies and schools like that have the money to make their program flourish.
  8. Color me curious. Indulge us in the long story?
  9. If you go to the Texas Band Director FB page you can see the drama with Barbers Hill - I will also say that is not the ONLY issue with the honor band process.. for example the 1C winner and 2nd place do not FEED small schools - yes they might be 1C by the numbers but they feed 5a and 6A programs as "magnet" type schools - I know one of them for sure is a GT academy - I find it a little unfair to true small 1C programs - BUT that is not the kids fault and I am sure they worked hard! My opinion on this has nothing to do with those programs - they are well deserved of the honor - I just personally think there are some thing that need to change to even the playing field for the true 1C programs who feed small schools - otherwise what is the point of the classification system to begin with.
  10. They were at SA a few years back. Small A Class band. Good sound, great group. They are the only A group here I think. Not quite finals level, but they put out some good sound.
  11. Pretty sure it will be another top 10 makes finals.
  12. Any idea on how good the band from Oklahoma is? I’m not as familiar with them.
  13. I’ve also seen Clifton’s show is called “Majesty”, Queen City’s is “Caged” and CH Yoe’s is “Volcanic”
  14. Barbers Hill should have been close to the top but we’ll never know since TMEA gave them the death penalty and banned them for 2 years. TMEA should be ashamed of themselves. Oh, and they will be sued and will lose. Sad day.
  15. not exactly berkners ex head director had a pretty well connection with Pearce as I have read since he had kids that went there. And Pearces old director and the assistant director both went to open a new school in prosper. And from what ive heard he brings a lot of positive energy. And im sure this won't harm jj Pearce at all, and honestly they might have a chance at state if they do super well like they did last year.
  16. Vista in 5A would be a sight to see. They are one of the best in 6A and it would be interesting to see them in the 5A level as well.
  17. This contest will be insane, so many great bands participating here.
  18. Just added Frisco Independence who I believe was a finalist here last year.
  19. Yesterday
  20. I don’t think anyone would be ready for that.
  21. If Vista drops, things will get really spicy
