  2. Does anyone know of any of the major 3A bands that will be moving up to 4A? Curious if Raymondville or Holliday would possibly be on the move.
  3. I don't know what the numbers are at Hitchcock. A good majority of the good programs in 3A are Division 2 schools. I think the closest school to the cutoff was Raymondville who could maybe move back up. I don't really know of any 2A's that could jump up to 3A. It seems like when realignment happens it's usually the big schools that go up and go down.

  5. I feel like Edinburgh may surprise a lot of people this year. Weslaco is always on that cusp of just making it they have to make it one year!!! and LOL, there’s no way Alexander gets 3rd, especially over Hanna. I don’t see them making it to top 3 this year
  6. Very true. We could see a group like Hitchcock who will more than likely be moving up to 4A the next go around make a big push this year.
  7. I think it's an overall big net positive. Before all music judges were having to judge way too many subcaptions IMO (Content, Brass, Woodwinds, Percussion, Ensemble), and now it's just three (Ensemble Content, Ensemble Performance, and their specific caption). So I guess all music judges were judging every caption in some way before, though you can usually tell which judges actually judged the whole sheet versus the ones who just wrote down a number for all of music. If a judge has straight 1st's, straight 2nd's, straight 3rd's, etc. for every band with all those subcaptions.........they're probably not really judging all those subcaptions.
  8. Probably by the end of the month..
  9. Yeah, Bridgeland and Reagan were the only bands other than Pearland that beat them and they aren’t gonna be there. So if they are at the same level or higher than they were at this point last year, they should make at least 4th again, but I’m honestly expecting higher.
  10. Yeah I have no clue, but it’s a good sign bc it means a lot of groups are on their A game this season, could arguably be the best all around season post-Covid, LOS is gonna be an absolute bloodbath
  11. I think this is a positive thing, my only concern is if all the judges are band directors (5A ones Id assume), I'm worried that they might not have the ear for percussion that a percussionist might have. I know I sure don't. And not that there aren't any directors who are percussionists, but I know they are few and far between. My solution would to be to have a special percussion judge, and he or she would be the only one to not switch from music to visuals for finals. I would assume that's the plan but this is new. With that being said I do like the chances for captions now. Especially with all the kids on the field for the retreat it just gives more excitement In this area especially.
  12. Just when I thought BOA and UIL was hard to predict here comes DCI PREDICTIONS AND THEY'RE EVEN CLOSER. I give up
  13. Soooo SCV .8 from BD….yeah I give up on preds lol. 1 & 2. Bloo and BAC that’s all I got for yall lol
  14. when do all of the band camps start for each school (if anyone knows)?
  15. Oh no doubt, a solid program for many years I think the last 6 State Titles have been Whitesboro/Mineola/Mineola/Mineola/Whitesboro/Mineola. I would like to see Whitesboro pushed more in Area B. There isn't much there besides Howe and Holliday (had them 2nd at State 2 yrs ago) who are both pretty good programs. Area C is a gauntlet with Mineola/Redwater/Atlanta/Winnsboro/Commerce/Queen City and an up and coming Quitman who has missed out on state by 1 slot 2 yrs in a row.
  16. Nope your spot on
  17. hey area g forum is back! anyways I see Weslaco making state this year. my personal prediction is 1. hanna 2. Weslaco 3. Alexander All 3 make state this year I feel. also I may be just a tiny bit biased as someone who went to Hanna…
  18. So rather than 3 music, 2 visual, there's going to be a WW, a brass, and a percussion judge for music, and then visual ind. and visual ens? I still might be misunderstanding but I think I like this change and the chance for captions to be awarded.
  19. With the new judging system in place, I wondered how it will affect this area, and also who would get first in each individual category. Anyone have any thoughts?
  20. Last week
  21. I think castleberry gonna take it all in my opinion
  22. For some areas (I think 4A-6A but correct me if I'm wrong), captions will be similar to SMBC. Visual Individual, Visual Ensemble, WW, Brass, and Percussion. Check this link out for the judging sheets that should be usage for this year.
  23. North Shore in 3rd is….,something lol. I mean I’d love it to happen they had an amazing program but idk, maybe they will. It’s just a super stacked field
  24. 1st The Woodlands 2nd Bridgeland 3rd North Shore 4th Cy-Woods 5th Cy-Fair 6th Cinco Ranch 7th Tomball Memorial 8th Clear Brook 9th Friendswood 10th Oak Ridge 11th Dickinson 12th Klein Cain First out Shadow Creek James E. Taylor Cy Ranch A&M Consolidated Spring
  25. Hey everyone. Question to those of yall who are participating in the predictions. Do yall want me to mix in All-Age corps with the World and Open Classes when it comes to results? All-Age tends to have their scores run higher than World and Open. Or we can just automatically put All-Age at the bottom of the predictions submissions and the results too? Please let me know as I dont want to do something that causes backlash.
  26. I think I'm out of the loop. Could you elaborate on the new judging? A source if you got it.
