  1. I might take Wando over Mason (for now) but I don’t think there’s a better six than AvonDad posted. Union came down the year Bedford finals got canceled. But we’ve missed out on many of the other Oklahoma bands. We play nice down here.
  2. Because it’s quite optimistic still that UIL will be able to pull this off. It’s honestly more responsible to cut it now than to keep stringing students along.
  3. UIL delaying the season. Marching shows can be learned starting 9/7. State Championships by Christmas.
  4. Y’all are the band I’m most upset for! Your show last year was one of my absolute favorites (and if you have a late season video, message me). It was clear that this year was going to be promising for you for BOA and UIL.
  5. At least for the fall, it’s a wrap for any in person events.
  6. It seems BOA is likely done. The news is already leaking quite heavily.
  7. That’s about as official as it gets in my mind. I’m not sure how you can have a competitive season while missing three crucial weeks.
  8. I heard from a good source that a parent said the district was done but the same source told me later that students hadn’t heard anything. It looks like I may have jumped the gun on this one (my apologies) but the writing is very much on the wall for them and any other district on that side of the DFW airport.
  9. It was mentioned in Eagle-Mountain’s statement that this was a combined effort. I assume their official statement comes sometime today.
  10. Birdville (so no Haltom trip to Indy), Northwest, Eagle Mountain-Saginaw, and Grapevine-Colleyville are all out.
  11. There should be a few more that also released at noon today. ETA: McKinney ISD is out too.
  12. I heard this is the week when a number of school districts will announce they’re going non-competitive. Who knows if my rumor mill will bear out, but something to be on the lookout for. I’ve also heard that are a number of other school districts that would be ready to announce a totally non-competitive season as a group, but for one or maybe two schools holding on.
  13. It’s not just one and four on that list alone, either.
  14. Midwest Clinic is canceled. Not boding well for anything before December...
  15. This is correct. Every Year Area is in effect starting this fall. Leander, Hendrickson, Rouse, Cedar Park, Wakeland, and Weiss are all skipping to go to BOA San Antonio. It seems Aledo, Lebanon Trail, and Wylie East are going to opt for Area instead. Burleson Centennial has neither listed, so presumably their directors are still weighing the choice or need approval. Highland Park and Dripping Springs have yet to update their calendars, but I assume both will go to Area. I couldn't get into Friendswood's calendar and can't find Lone Star's site.
  16. It seems to me that the two suburban Austin UIL Regions have moved from Saturday to Tuesday. That helps explain Leander, Round Rock, Cedar Ridge and Weiss going to Waco, as well as rumors of Hendrickson and Cedar Ridge considering St. Louis.
  17. Leander's UIL Region was one of the very few (less than five) that voted down Every Year Area. I think that sentiment was particularly strong and supported in their ISD and Region.
  18. I also heard that CTJ might be going to the new Director’s Choice thing too. Any word on that?
  19. It happened in 2012 when Bell traveled up to St Louis (BA originally signed up, then split—deciding not to attend BOA at all until GN) and in 2015 when Carmel signed up for an early Ohio regional (Mason also signed up, then split). BA seems pretty confident in their ability to take on Tarpon Springs. Not sure they want to take on Texas—especially after Avon couldn’t manage on their last trip.
  20. BA and Mason have both pulled out of regionals before knowing they were going to face a potential challenge. When was the last time Broken Arrow didn’t medal outside of GN? I’m not convinced the program is up for that risk.
  21. But don't you want them to get some nice hardware in Dayton in 2021?!
  22. Yes, they were demoted (perhaps by director decision, perhaps by WGI) overall.
