meursault Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 I would be very surprised if Waxahachie doesn't win this contest by several points. Quote

kold Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 Waxahachie, HP, Forney, Poteet advance if they take 4 in that order Quote
Guest Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 I could honestly see Highland Park as a legitimate state finals contender. Quote
JackAttack Posted October 18, 2017 Author Posted October 18, 2017 If they take 5 I see Waxahachie, HP, Forney, Poteet, and North Forney/Red Oak advancing to state Quote
technerd19 Posted October 22, 2017 Posted October 22, 2017 If everyone else who received 1s last year receives a 1st division this year Area C will be taking 6 bands to state. If so I definitely see it being Waxahachie, Highland Park, Forney, North Forney, Poteet, and Red Oak that advance to state. Quote
BlackJesus Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 Here is the schedule for the contest. 27 bands will be performing, BUT 30 (31) made 1s at Region! I knew that last cycle a few military bands opted out of Area C and I knew they were in Region 20 and 21 but couldn't find results anywhere and had to do some digging. The 3 military bands I can confirm** made 1s are Ennis, Nacogdoches, and Whitehouse. I couldn't find anything on Hallsville but I can confirm that the other military bands unfortunately did not receive all 1s. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this'll be the first time ever that Area C has 6 bands advance to State! What a growth! I believe that back in 2011 they only had 3 My locks for finals in no order are: • Poteet • Highland Park • Royse City • The Colony • Waxahachie • Forney I also expect Midlothian and North Forney to be in Finals but I have yet to see their shows this year so I am not certain. The bands I see on the bubble are Lake Dallas, Denton, Lindale, Texas, Naaman Forest, and Red Oak. The bands I have NO IDEA about that could possibly make it are Denton Ryan, Northwest, Pine Tree, Sulphur Springs, and Mount Pleasant. My predictions for State advancers in order are: 1) Waxahachie 2) Forney 3) Poteet 4) HP 5) The Colony 6) Royse City Best of luck to all the bands this weekend! 2017 Area Schedule 5A.pdfFetching info... Danpod Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 I thought only five would advance since there are 27 programs in Prelims even though 30 programs made 1s at Region (1 for 5 Rule). Quote

aaron067 Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 You're right. 6 will advance since 30+ earned a 1st division at their respective Region contests. Quote

technerd19 Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 Region 2 was held today, that was just a tentative schedule until it was held, 5 bands are advancing to state, 28 bands received first divisions, Denton, Ryan, and Braswell made second divisions. Quote

It's a rule that UIL has to release the schedule the Monday before area by 4 p.m. Region 2 was just delayed till Wednesday due to rain on Saturday Quote
banfan Posted October 26, 2017 Posted October 26, 2017 If you have not seen Naaman this year, you are missing a serious dark horse in this race. Quote

Jeffrey L. Gorman Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 In regards to the Military Bands, both Llindale and Hallsville received Superior Ratings at Region 21 Marching Contest. Only Lindale is coming from Region 21 because the Military Band folks think that the judging is rigged against them. I would agree that probably North Forney or Forney would be a favorite, however I have been to far to many Area Contests where Military Bands outmarched and outplayed "Competitive Bands" and got no credit. Last year when two military Bands made the AAAA Finals, you would have thought that the fix was in. The same comments were made in 2015 when White Oak made the Finals in 3A. Quote
