Tailgate88 Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 Wondering who the bands to watch for in Area E 5A are this year. I have not paid attention to the Houston area in years. I saw Tomball Memorial mentioned on another thread, any others? Quote

SamuelCulper Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 10 bands in Finals and 7 advance to State? Kinda brutal on the other 3. Ouch. Quote
Guest Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 Last year at area E 8 out of 10 advanced. Quote

Howdy08 Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 Good list. I would put lumberton in there. I think they placed ahead of several of those at a contest already. Howdy08 and xaos_2 2 Quote
Guest Posted October 26, 2017 Posted October 26, 2017 I think bridgeland has the potential to move on Quote

Guest Posted October 26, 2017 Posted October 26, 2017 I'm pretty sure Waller will advance. They actually beat Seven Lakes in finals at an early season contest. Quote

tmhs2019 Posted October 26, 2017 Posted October 26, 2017 One band off of most of the lists I see is Bryan. Bryan had an extremely strong performance at the Katy Marching Festival, close with Tomball Memorial. They advanced to finals but were unable to compete as two of their band kids were sent to the hospital. I think for a lot of schools, Bryan is one of the top bands in our area to watch out for. takigan 1 Quote
takigan Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 Tomball - Advanced to state last go-round. Has made finals each year since they dropped to 5A.Tomball Memorial - Likewise. Placed 17th at 5A State in 2013.Waller - Placed ahead of Seven Lakes at Katy, Placed ahead of Cinco Ranch at BOA Conroe. Been to 5A State in the past with their previous zoning.Brenham - Regular advancer to state during their previous zoning. Will likely achieve the same here.Bryan - If they can make finals in 5A Area D (like they did in 2015) with all those strong CenTex 5As, they can do the same in this area.Barbers Hill - Made it to 5A State in 2015. Got unanimous 1st place scores from all 5 judges at Area Finals as well.Crosby - Made it to 5A State in 2015Huntsville - One of the state's strongest military-style bands. Came very close to being the 3rd State advancer for 5A State in 2011 behind Friendswood and Dawson, and made Area Finals in both 2013 and 2015.Lumberton - Were one away from State in both 2013 and 2015. They'll be out for blood to make sure it doesn't happen a third time.Elkins - Would've tied Waller at 5A Area E last go-round if "bad judge" rule had been in effect. Quote
