natertater21000 Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 As far as getting the money for the trip, increasing band dues is probably the easiest and quickest thing to do. However some bands can't afford to do that due to the financial stability of the surrounding area. Leander for example could never ask for a 995$ band fee and still expect to have the same number of members. Some have trouble paying band dues as is which are around half of what would be asked to fund grand nats. Quote

Household Income - $51,946Avg. Home Value in Hurst - $137,000% of LD Bell HS students getting free/reduced lunch - 39.6%LD Bell is a poorer community than Leander. That's not the point though. Even if Leander had a $995 band fee, they still couldn't go to nats with it because their GN trip alone costs $1300. A band fee is just something that covers the costs for that school year....and if you've got a huge trip planned, than the costs of it are added to that band fee. So if Leander's far share is $600 (or wtv) and their trip is $1300, then their dues for that year are effectively $1900. Quote
Marcato Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 On 11/12/2015 at 5:05 PM, takigan said: The trip itself should only cost about $400-$600/head depending on how many days they stay, flying or driving, and how much of the trip is funded by sponsors or the school. $1300 is likely a full season fee (camp costs, show design costs, instructional costs, + all competition travel including Nats), not the cost of Nats itself. My senior year (2013) the season fee was $100-$150. The $1300 was just for the grand nats trip. Quote
lovemarchingband2015 Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 The Woodlands always fly to Indy. On a non-Indy year band/travel fees are around $800 and Indy year around $1800 Quote
natertater21000 Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Stats are great and all but that doesn't show how many of those people on free or reduced are in band... It's quite a few for Leander. I would know I was in the program from 2011-2015 Quote
