Who are we thinking is getting the best guard/ percussion award? I know Clear Brook got the best guard award a few years, but not last year, I think they have a chance at gaining that streak back but, Tomball and Bridgeland have been looking good. I'm thinking Bridgeland for percussion.

haven’t seen bhs percussion. i like how tomball’s sounding and clear brook always has a great drumline. dawson drumline sounds really clean from what i’ve heard but they are marching 5 snares and 2 tenors.

id like recordings of all 3 of b-land, Dawson, and tw, if somebody can get em. preferably a stable upstairs cam lol.

thought tw sounded a weeeee bit iffy last nite + wanna confirm. still waitin to be able to hear the trumpets w/ the melody at the end of the opener, under all that brassiness. also for the ballad solos, all the non soprano sax solos in the show really, to sound like actual music and not just notes, + the euph to not be north of the pitch. obvi lots of rhythmic inaccuracies in the closer stuff too, but imma assume they just learned all that so won't be as hard on em.

i really like the music so far tho. big vibe shift. hard show. not as sure 'bout the drum break in the middle of bo mambo, think it could connect more into the winds that follow, some sort of melodic throughline.

others: genuinely curious to see how Dawson does here, they seem on an upward swing. parts of what they had last week were really great. huge Texas sound. lotsa visual cleaning to do tho.

i think there's a more recent bridgeland i haven't watched yet on YT but an even more recent one wouldn't hurt.

I’ll say Bridgeland had a rough run. Mic cut out for soloist, soloists flubbed, some bonehead movement during still parts, etc. It’s ok, we’ll rebound. I didn’t take a video unfortunately. North Shore looked REALLY good and I think they should take first in prelims.

Dawson didn’t place in their class? That’s surprising.

They were however in the top 6 per the finals schedule (top 6/bottom 6 split just like BOA).

Really looking forward to finally seeing them and what the fuss is about!

Brilliant finals run by Bridgeland despite the tech difficulties. I loved the creativity of Klein Oak’s show, and especially loved the performance of the Porcelain character. Dawson has a great presentation with beautiful colors/props.
