The woodlands will win

everything else is fair game. I do think CP, NSS and TM will be back at state, but it’s still way to early, lot of really good bands here, anything is possible

i think klein oak will be as well. it seems that they got better as the season progressed, seeing how they beat tm and nss at state and their high placement at south houston regional

Yeah, there’s a strong chance it’s the same 5, KO had a super strong season last year, kinda forgot lol, but yeah other then TW’s it’s fair game.

It will be interesting with the five judge system on specific aspects (instead of a single music judge). That said the top-3 from last year look to still be the top-3....I think the 4,5,6,7 bubble bands could shift around with percussion now being more directly evaluated.

Personally, I think 1st place for Area F may be competitive. North shores show has been good and placed sixth at finals in BOA Shenandoah. But also on the other hand TWHS has also been crazy from the leaks I’ve been seeing on multiple platforms I hope to see both in state finals this year. Best of luck NSSH and TWHS…

This area is going to be SHAKEN UP this year

TW

North Shore

College Park

Tomball Memorial

Grand Oaks/ Klein Oak

Klein Oak/Grand Oaks

Klein Cain

Klein

NEW CANEY, YES NEW CANEY

Oak Ridge or Klein Collins

I feel like the top 15 or so groups in this Area have gotten much stronger over the last decade. The achievement is higher every year.

And yeah we should pay attention to New Caney. A lot of their music is on the move at brisk tempo and they sound good. Visually very solid from both an individual and ensemble standpoint. If they can't take a state spot this year, they could be poised for one next year.

The Woodlands

TW College Park

GP North Shore

Tomball Memorial

Grand Oaks

Tomball (I BELIEVE WE CAN GET TO 6!!)

New Caney

Klein Collins

Oak Ridge

Klein Oak/Cain/Waller/Spring

How many bands would need to advance to from region to get 6 bands to state?

30 region bands (including military).  12 would final at area and 6 would make it to state.

Possible, but unlikely given only 25 qualified last year.  I do think Willis will get 1's instead of 2's plus I don't think there will be a fluke DQ like last year.  Then you would need 3 of the Aldine high schools (Nimitz, Davis, McArthur) to go from 2's to 1's.  That would get Area F to 30 assuming no one else dropped from 1's to 2's.

We will know after the Region 33 contest on Saturday whether it is even a possibility when Region 9 holds their competition the following Tuesday.

I think Nimitz can get in, last year I heard they simply had a bad run. As for Davis and Mac, I can see one but not both going from 2 to 1.

I’d like to state that Dekaney is on a full rebuild since their directors went to Conroe. I am hopeful they can get to Area since Westfield was in similar situation last year.

Complete Staff turnover is pretty rough. I don't know how common turnover like this is in this profession but I know many bands in this area have dealt with some drastic staff changes over the last few years.

Yes I know, we barely scathed by with 5 last year (was almost 4)....sad because there are a lot of worthy bands this season!

I agree with shaken up.

Really would be nice if we get 6 bands...but probably will be 5 again. Sigh. But you can make the case that Oak is not completely invincible and any one of Grand Oaks, Tomball, Collins...could be in that 5th (or by slight chance 5th or 6th) spot discussion.

I stand by this, especially after what I saw at Lonestar.

Klein Collins had pretty bad runs at the Lone Star Preview. They definitely would’ve gotten 7th place instead of 8th if they had better runs. Given that Grand Oaks beat tomball memorial, I think the 4/5/6th place spots will be very competitive at Area F. We must cheer every band on to advance to Area so 6 bands advance to state. Klein Collins has a huge shot at making 5-6th place and potentially advancing to state this year. Imagine how cool it’d be to have a Where’s Waldo show at state!!

1. The Woodlands

2. North Shore

3. College Park

4. Tomball Memorial

5. Grand Oaks

6. Klein Collins

7. Klein Oak

8. Oak Ridge

9. Spring

I have a feeling 6th-10th spots will be very competitive between the klein schools, oak ridge and spring.

Bubble bands:

New Caney, Klein, Tomball

Tomball and New Caney as bubble bands?
