I don’t know if they’ll make state but I definitely think they have a good shot at finals. Wouldn’t consider that a fluke, they’ve been on a steady upwards trajectory for a while

they've yet to use area judging at any contest. they used state at DMI but ww and perc is scoring very low. it's gonna be really hard with the new judging system especially with good perc such as trinity, haltom, lr etc. that's why i said it was a fluke because keller central excels at their perc and woodwinds.

okay but it doesn't mean it was a fluke? Keller central got their percussion award and all it means they have something to work on, not it being fluke. Your use of fluke is like you're dismissing their 2nd place tbh

And they beat Lake Ridge at the Mansfield contest earlier this season? Every time they've competed with a band they'll be competing against at Area, they've either tied (Keller Central), or they've outright beat them. Lake Ridge, Mansfield, Arlington, Martin, etc., SGP has consistently placed above. That doesn't sound like a fluke to me.

perc is 20% of the final score same thing with ww. i'm very proud of them for coming to a comp and beating very good bands, i just don't think this will translate to other bands using this scoresheet

they beat lake ridge and mansfield using scoresheets that aren't the new area format. so yes while they beat these bands i don't think it will translate. i'm more so talking about bands such as haltom, trinity, boswell, tc, slc

So every contest needs to use the area scoring to win. I'm sorry but it definitely still feels like you're dismissing what they've done for the last month almost. I don't wanna argue but like not everything needs to use the area scoring, look on it from the outside.

They've also been on a pretty noticeable upward trajectory for the past few years. They were 13th at Area last year, and even though the contests didn't use Area style judging, they've been beating bands that beat them last year. 

 

Calling that a fluke is disrespectful to the program, and the work that the directors, and kids, have put into the last few seasons. You're allowed an opinion, but there are ways to word things without being rude about it.

My one week before predictions!!

Coppel is a obvious lock for first, one of the best bands in the whole state, Kellers brass is on an even more steady climb up, their brass tone is genuinly insane this year, Ld Bell had some pretty shocking results at BOA Waco taking third in that very hard competition, Timber Creek is still good this year had them above Ld bell before Waco, Southlake Carrol visual is still top notch, if they had a better ensemble sound they could take second here, Keller Central although having some weird results at Duncanville, i think will still place sixth here because of the changes in the judging system, Lake Ridge also had some pretty shocking results at duncanville, in prelims they took first in indivdual music, and individual marching! If there wasn't GE in Boa Lake Ridge wouldve had 8th place which is pretty nice, SGP is on their rise!! I predict them above lake ridge in the upcoming years. Trinity is pretty much at the exact same spot as they were last year, and same with haltom. Interested to see how this area plays out!!

Okay so ummm no lie this is or is very close to state level quality…HELLO?!? My first actual viewing and yeah they’re def a dark horse for me, they just can’t let the hype get to them in finals if u know what i mean. But ummm yeah if they have a run like that they’re def making finals

Well darn!!! After viewing this might have to bump them to six… I think 6-8 is interchangeable between lake ridge Keller central and sgp… will be nice to see the competition between these three.

From what i’ve heard, Martin and SGP had a really long day the day of duncanville, with both groups performing at UIL a little before noon. This leads me to say that i am very impressed with how well SGP placed and i believe that if they don’t let these result get to their head and fix minor details, they will have a fantastic performance at area/area finals.

Last time I went to Area, I was a sophomore in 2023. It’s very exciting to be back for my final year. Overall, I’m ecstatic to see how this competition will go. There are a lot of great bands here. I’m especially interested to see how SGP will do, despite them being my rival school. I wish them the best :’)

I'm also interested on which band gets that last state spot. Personally, I think it'll be TC, SLC, and KC fighting between 4th,5th, and 6th.

southlake carroll has been a little lackluster this season, I'm not sure if I would consider them for state. I would honestly put South Grand Prairie in the fight for 4th place. Maybe less likely than Timber Creek and Keller Central, but I think they have a better shot than SLC
