TexasStrangers you said the Dallas schools may move back to area b. The realignment that moved them into area c doesn’t happen very often. It doesn’t happen every two years. The two year alignment is for classification. That doesn’t change which area you go into unless you move classifications.

Posted

When they last redid the classification they also did the Areas.

For example, in 2023. Celina, Canton, Farmersville, Van Alstyne, Wills Point, Sunnyvale, Community, Mabank, Caddo Mills and Quinlan Ford were all part of Area B. They are were moved to Area C when UIL redid the classification for this previous 2024-2025 school year. None of those schools moved up or moved down. Hence the reason 4A Area C became like a Super Area with so many great programs and allowed some newer schools in Area B to make it to state.

I have a feeling when UIL redoes classifications for the 2026-2027 school year some of those schools will move back to Area B in 4A or they will stay in Area C and join 5A which is not that big.

Yes, I have a feeling that some of the Area B's and C's will move up to 5A but I don't think there will be that many because the state is going to raise the cutoffs to try and balance everything out. It's just a question of how much are they going to raise it.

Cutoffs in 2022, 1300 students got you in 5A, 2024 it was 1315. 4A is the smallest division in Texas and 5A is the biggest.

Again, they don’t always change area every time they reclassify. Sometimes it is 20 years before they touch areas. I’m glad you have a feeling but it doesn’t change facts. They do not have to change areas every 2 years.

Do yall have any predictions now that most of the area finalist have revealed their show themes?

Here are my predictions.

1st/2nd: Celina/SS (again). Both bands should continue to have success in 4A. Although SS show theme has been done many times they do have some good music selections and seems like they will make it unique. I’m ready to see Celina’s show!!

3rd/4th: NL/PG. both of these bands have shows great improve these past few years and should be some top contenders at area and possibly state! I do think PG has a good chance to over come NL they have improved significantly every year and it seems that NL has struggled a bit since Mr. Jones left in 2023.

5th/6th: Lumberton/BC. These 2 bands always seem to be neck and neck. They both have really amazing shows but it’ll definitely be close! I could see Lumberton placing higher but I have them here for now. BC I’ve seen have their ups and downs. I honestly enjoyed their area performance more than state but we will see what happens!

7th/8th: Farmersville/VA. These 2 placements will be controversial if there are only 7 state qualifiers. In 2024 VA I think was supposed a state qualifier in prelims but dropped down in finals. After seeing FHS show theme I think it could really be a toss up. It’s a fun show but I don’t know how judges will feel about it. I have not yet seen anything from VA.

9th/10th/11th/12th: It could be really anyone here with the stacked area but I think the more likely ones will be Canton/PT/Community/WP/Sunnyvale. It’ll definitely be close but it’ll just depend on their execution. I did hear that PT is getting a new assistant director..

1/2: Celina and/or Sulphur springs

3/4/5: NL/BC/Lumberton. bridge city got 3rd last year and i can see them doing it again. lumberton is huge and has good sounds and good marching. north lamar always ends up getting to state

6/7/8 VA/Farmersville/canton. hopefully there is 8 state spots this year because these are all very good bands.

9-12 WP/sunnyvale/paris/Community: barley missing out on state again

not really much change from you.

does anybody know celinas show?

If you go back to my original post I said "may" never said they will.

I was going off of this quote where you said you had a feeling they WILL move back.

So you are predicting for Pleasant Grove to go from 7th to out of finals this year?

Might be an early discussion but who do we think will make state this year?

Expand

Assuming we have 8 state spots this year, (missed having 8 by one band last year) here is who I think could have a chance at making State. (No particular order)

1. Celina

2. Sulphur Springs

3. Lumberton

4. Canton

5. North Lamar

6. Bridge City

7. Van Alstyne

8. Pleasant Grove

(My way too early predictions, mostly based off of history)

Van Alstyne and Community are both 1 good show away from being in State discussion, keep an eye out on those two guys, it could be a good season for this area

So in your opinion, which groups are in the state discussion? Of course, leaving out the obvious ones.

I think Celina, Sulphur Springs, North Lamar, and Farmersville are probably the obvious choices in my opinion, I think between the 4 Farmersville I see a lot of growth in that program that could happen.

From there, I think Lumberton will make state as well. Another good choice that I think could place pretty high in the Area level more than likely the top 3

After that, the 7th and maybe the 8th in my opinion I think could be a couple bubble people. Possibly like I mentioned before with the right execution and a good show, Community and Van Alstyne could be some guys to look out for, but I think Pleasant Grove, Paris, and Canton will also be in that discussion, and I think they could also perform to that state level. I definitely have to go to a game or contest or find some way to watch these guys because I think this will be a good area contest as a lot of finalists here could definitely have their shot at state in this area. I'm excited to see how it turns out

I like your thoughts. However, do you think Bridge City will fall out of the state discussion after placing 3rd at this area last year?

Celina typically doesn’t reveal their shows to the public on what their theme is going to be. It is only shown to the kids and parents on the show theme. We’re just gonna have to play the wait and see game for Celina’s ‘25 show.

Yeah there are several schools out there that are very competitive and are pretty tight lipped about their shows to the public. I mean it probably makes sense, if you are a good program why do you want your competition to know all summer long what you are doing and who you are using.

My thoughts were that most strong competitive programs selected their music & music/drill/choreo staff months ago. If a band program hasn't figured that stuff out by May....

Little Cypress - Mauriceville (LCM) theme screenshot.

Video reveal on their FB. It is similar to NL's theme.

Rise Up (LCM) vs. Ascension (NL)

Both are playing Stairway to Heaven.

LCM was usually in finals prior to the Area C realignment.

Interesting. Where did you get that information? LCM has notoriously kept their shows hidden til the fall ssason.
