I believe we could possibly see a new area c champion this season! We can’t count groups out like LC and Mount Pleasant, Or will we see NM retain ? What does everyone think?

At the moment I’m thinking NM will still retain their lead. My next guess if they don’t would probably be Poteet or MP. I would love to see LC up there though.

Either MP or NM as my guesses for one, but I think NM will retain. I had to chance to see their show last year and it blew away my expectations. Hope to see their show this year. Mount pleasant I think will be the second most likely but with the right stuff they definitely can place well.

north mesquite is really good, I think LC and MP can make it but this is me personally sometimes I feel like LC lacks consistency but if they can get that under control than I think they could be a challenge, same thing with mount pleasant, both are really strong programs but even if they don’t get first place I still believe both of those programs will always be up in the top 5

Not any updates that I know of but I can make another prediction (yes I know I said I’d wait until the season starts but Idc)

Since this thread is kind of quiet right now without any recent updates, I thought of an interesting topic of debate for this forum: Who do you think will be the next band in this Area to make State finals, and how many years will it take? Will one of the current 5A Area C bands take the spot, or will a new band rise from 4A and dominate this area? Last year, at the state contest, Area C fluctuated between the lows 20s and high 30s, and the state finalist spot typically requires a placement in the high 10s. The last band in this Area to make state finals was Forney, who moved up to 6A in the most recent realignment. Since then, compared to some of the other areas in 5A, we lack a major powerhouse who consistently places very high in the state contest. Over the past few years, however, this Area has been growing at an exponential rate, with bands such as Mount Pleasant who placed last in area back in 2021 now qualifying for the state competition just 3 years later. Personally, I think it will come down to which band can keep up the pace and continue to grow over the years. I still think it will take a few years, but it will eventually happen down the line. What do you guys think?

Yeah, I agree it’s gonna take a while, but I’d say either NM, Poteet or maybe HP. I’m really hoping they rise back up soon bc they have a lot of talent but after 21 their shows were just not enough to compete but they still sounded great. Either way these bands are really starting to improve and would love to see 1 improve into finals soon.

Poteet leak.  They sound awesome particularly the woodwinds at the beginning.  Music book is really cool too but it does seem that timing issues from past years persist.  Def feels like they are coming for that top spot at area.

WM leak.  Appears to be from a rehearsal.  The sax soloist is great and so is their ensamble sound.  Love the brass and the 1812 overture teaser.  Excited to see the rest of the show and their progression this season.  Still think an MISD sweep (all MISD going to state) is possible this year.

North Mesquite, Poteet, Mt. Pleasant, Kaufman is what I would think but its way too early to tell. Not sure anyone will crack the top 25 at state but you never know. Would love to see a newcomer in finals.

I’m excited to see how this contest plays out this year, but I’m particularly excited to see what happens next year if the region 25 bands stay in this area after moving up to 5A. 
 

I’ve been watching the MP band since the late90s/early 2000s and they’ve consistently been a favorite. I remember when they were 4A and they were a solid five steps above the pack.

Seems like their guard tripled, amazing to see them pull that off in just a year. Sax solo definitely sounds amazing and loving the little remixes, curious about all the people on the field tho do they all have shadows?

Yeah they’re super strong, and I think it’s probably just early season stuff that will be fixed eventually
