Wow, it really seems like someone in this area is always getting DQ’d, first Wakeland, then Lovejoy, and now The Colony. Definitely sucks for the seniors though getting robbed of what is most likely their last performance of the season.

1. Wakeland

2. Lone Star

3. Lebanon Trail

4. Argyle/McKinney North

5. McKinney North/Argyle/Reedy

6. McKinney North/Reedy

7. Independence

8. Walnut Grove

9. Heritage

10. Liberty

its genuinely a toss up after the 1st 3, however i can see LT being 2nd as well, i really liked their show

yea ok buddy sure those mavericks don't play bud

I just saw their run from last nights football game and I can admit it is definitely a whole lot better and cleaner since I last saw it. I regret the negative comments about their marching but I still am unsure about how they will rank this year. They can for sure make finals but I cant figure out where they could place. Probably 7th - 10th

Is there going to be a new schedule now without the colony? Or will every group after them just get moved up?

They were already in the last block, so either the three groups after them will move up, or there will just be a judge break inserted. Schedules for most groups shouldn't change.

no- still 4

UIL State advancement is strictly based off how many bands qualify from region with 1’s.

Even if a band is DQed before area or selects not to go they are still counted towards the numbers for state advancement!

marching a kid who was ineligible at region. there was some disagreement between the principal and head director about what constitutes an honors class and met district exemption policy. principal self reported

Always frustrating when admin isn’t supportive of the fine arts.

The DQ takes away the superior rating. A DQ could affect the number of groups advancing. On the other hand, if a group makes a 1, but opts to not attend area, it would not affect the number of bands advancing because they made a superior rating. Fortunately, the number of groups were not affected.

Since Liberty and Emerson are going so early where do you guys think that will put them in prelims? Same goes for the stacked last group going at the end of finals

I could see both still have a fair chance at Finals. Probably be 7th-10th (Emerson) and 8th-10th (Liberty).

here’s my updated predictions for finals since everyone else is doing theirs XD

1. Wakeland - need i say more? crazy skill and great theme

2. Lone Star - holy brass, this show is so energetic and fun. i could def see them beating wakeland

3. Lebanon Trail - They want revenge after last year, show theme is also very cool

4. Reedy - The growth of this program is insane. watching the crown last year was amazing and i see them doing very well at finals, maybe even passing LT

5. Argyle - show is great once again but competition is so stacked.  Reedy Argyle and LT could definitely be fighting for this state spot

6. McKinney North - Very fun show to watch, but some of the visual aspects are lack luster. wish we could see a little more marching from them : / nonetheless a great program and show!

7. Independence - very powerful brass and some great visual clarity

8. Walnut Grove - WG and Indy are such a toss up for me. IMO i think it will just come down to who has a better run. Also i’ve said it before, their lead trumpet is killer

9. Liberty - haven’t seen much of this show but i know they will pull through with a great performance at finals

10. Emerson - sorta same situation as WG/Indy. they could definitely overtake liberty. Great soloists too(and for every band mentioned(: )

as for the runner ups for finals, i think Heritage and Memorial could fight for that last finals spot. they both have great shows. whatever judge gave heritage a 2 at region must’ve been watching a different show. kinda got Bluecoats 2016  vibes from memorials show design XD

Good luck to everyone at area next week!
