For finals dont think Waxahachie and Forney are gonna let go of those 2 spots anytime soon. Well actually I take that back. Waxahachie does have a new school that’s expected to be opened in fall of 2027. Time will tell what will happen there. Rockwall, since their 2018 state run have stayed really close to that state qualifier so they’re probably consistent enough to stay around there. Heath ? No finals in 23’, finals in 24’ state in 25’ ….26’ To be continued.
the dark horse or horses I feel will come out of one of the Mesquite schools. Idk if it plays a part but their 5A programs are solid. We could very well see all 3 of their 5A go to state this Saturday. Does that put pressure on the 2 in 6A?  Idk, but they’re both trending in the right direction. If not Mesquite, I’d say Royse City or Tyler would be the ones to get in.

As far as advancing, Waxahachie until the new school opens, Rockwall barring something crazy happening, the 3 and 4? Way too early to tell but I could see a Berkner or a JJ Pearce taking one of those spots. Should be interesting.

I think you forgot Forney in your 2026 prediction..."As far as advancing, Waxahachie until the new school opens, Rockwall barring something crazy happening, the 3 and 4? Way too early to tell but I could see a Berkner or a JJ Pearce taking one of those spots. Should be interesting. "

Actually the mistake was I meant to put “Waxahachie and *Rockwall are not gonna let go of those two spots” meaning I believe Waxahachie will be 1st and Rockwall 3rd, I believe someone else other than Forney will be 2nd (I know it’s an unpopular pick at this time but just my gut feeling on these too early predictions lol) probably Sachse at the 2 and a JJ Pearce or Berkner at the 4th

OK NEXT Question for those you HAVE been to state. We know the prelim schedule, we have the room booked…what else should we plan for

What can we expect for ticket prices?

Is there a parking fee?

Assume we should plan for patches and shirts?

Do we need to plan x amount of time to get back in for prelim awards monday night?

OMG u so right! I always forget they had that random off year after making finals for a while before they didn’t.

Now that we're speaking of significant jumps, North Forney placing 15th last year and jumping to 6th this year was pretty awesome. If they build off of this we could very well see a new state contender next year

The band that’s 15 or 16th this year should look at that as motivation.

I agree! John Horn has made a crazy amount of improvement compared to last year. I think that's one of the things that makes this area so great. All of the bands have shown amazing improvement and it's really difficult to predict where any band will place

There is a parking fee and if I remember correct I think there’s no in and out privileges so if your hotel is in walking distance that’s best. Yes to patches and shirts. Tickets are less than BOA but more than UIL and Area. Maybe $20-$25? Prelim awards will be packed so if you care to sit in a certain area you might want to get back way early.

Really shocking news:

Garland and Rowlett will be dropping down to 5A for the new realignment, leaving Sachse and North Garland in 6A to fend for themselves...
