Call me intrigued 😂 They're really really bright at night. I found them to be pretty distracting. I liked the idea, I'm not sure about the execution. They have them sitting on the front sideline, but I think they would probably work better if they sat at the rear. Right now they're using just some standard, traditional static screens in the back, on rolling carts. I think they could push those all to the sides and run the digital screens at the back, without interrupting their drill too much. I saw quite a few up in the separate form for that contest (Its labeled as Dallas not Bedford). Personally I don't keep up with BOA very much and don't know all the scoring areas so I am not the best person to talk on placements. The only people from this area I see making finals however would be Waxahachie and Sachse. I doubt anyone else even stands a chance. Quote

BugWub24 Posted October 5, 2025 Posted October 5, 2025 Some notable results from yesterday: BOA Bedford - Waxahachie finishes 6th in Finals -Â Sachse with their best finish yet at Bedford (14th, one away from finals) - Berkner finished 16th in Prelims McKinney Marching Invitational - North Forney finishes 12 in Finals (notably they took the last finals spot over J.J. Pearce) - Both Rockwall AND Rockwall-Heath place above Rock Hill in Finals USBands Crowley - Duncanville finishes 5th in Finals, notably below some smaller Area J bands - Tyler Legacy finishes 6th in Finals, 0.2 points behind Duncanville - John Horn finishes 8th in Finals Sounds of Fall (Princeton) - Royse City finishes 5th in Finals (was 2nd in Prelims behind Celina) Don Hanna Memorial - I haven't seen a full finals recap, but Rowlett made finals (9th in Prelims) JazzRun and BandDad11 2 Quote
Popular Post BugWub24 Posted October 5, 2025 Popular Post Posted October 5, 2025 A lot can change in three weeks, but yesterday's results change almost everything for me. We do have the Birdville contest next week, so we'll see how Duncanville and Sachse fair against each other, but Duncanville could be in danger of losing a state spot to Rockwall. Heath placing above Rock Hill and North Forney above J.J. Pearce is huge as well. McKinney used the new area judging format, so it was a real good look at how things could play out. We have a new player in town. Tyler Legacy may very well shock the world, and not only make area finals, but do well in the process. The finals bubble has now gotten bigger as a result. Lake Highlands and J.J. Pearce will probably still make it, but there are more bands in this area ready to play spoiler than ever. Rowlett and John Horn have seemed to find their way back into the finals bubble. North Forney is a huge player as well. Anything can happen! Camcam0974, JFNDOWBFAN, MoBone and 1 other 4 Quote

Maybe adjusting to the new director? It seems that there were multiple scores at MMI that were quite confusing to people Quote

I still think they can make finals, but they might need some more cleaning. Quote

With how close JJ Pearce and North Forney's scores were at MMI. I wouldn't be surprised to see some movement between those two. Aside from that, the biggest wild card I see right now is the RISD schools. I feel fairly confident in a Rockwall HS Top 4 for sure, but for Heath, it's way harder to place them. It's hard to picture Heath placing above D-Ville/Sachse for sure, but barely anyone saw a Heath finals at MMI (Me including.) and they showed up and showed out! I'm honestly surprised and they clearly have carried some real momentum as of late. Another thing to note is Heath also placed higher than even Rockwall in a few categories in both Prelims and Finals for MMI. (Could be chalked up to judging) But with scores so close, I'm really curious to see how Area C will end up! BandDad11 and SharksAreCool 2 Quote

The actual scores don't really matter cause the numbers are relative from contest to contest; it's mainly about who's around them. Duncanville finished below V.R. Eaton, and significantly behind Byron Nelson (both were 17th and 14th at Area J last year). Tyler Legacy was right behind them. Forney mainly faced Area B bands at HEB, but if you look at Prelims, Forney had a slightly closer gap with Aledo than Sachse did at BOA the week after. Sachse looked and sounded completely different from Wylie to Bedford; they've cleaned up significantly over the past week. We will get to see how they match up with Duncanville at Birdville next weekend, but I'm more confident in Sachse. Referring to my updated predictions, Waxahachie should take care of business at Area. I actually think 2-4 is very close together, but I do have Forney currently at 2nd. Rockwall and Sachse are interchangeable at the moment to me, but Rockwall has faired a little better against stronger competition so far. Hard to gauge Duncanville right now since they've only done one contest against fairly decent competition, but they seem to be having a slight down year. But they are still very good; it's why I'm so high on Tyler Legacy this year. It's very much a real possibility that at least one of the RISD bands misses finals here. Mell0supremacy01 1 Quote

I think I may be overhyping Sachse, but with just missing out Bedford finals with lots of things needing to be cleaned, just makes me WAY more excited, but with other bands such as Rockwall, as said has fared better against comp like that, Forney sounds like they're not a bad 2nd... Top 5 as of 10/5 1. Wax 2. Forney 3. Sachse 4. Rockwall 5. Duncanville Quote
