Very interesting scores in the auxiliary caption with the top 3 in prelims being Leander, Vandy, and Dripping Springs. I would assume Reagan would be the big auxiliary caption winner, but those other schools' guards really stepped up. Leander and Drippings guards have been on the rise ever since 23, and you can definitely tell that from their performances.

Their percussion didn't help them any finishing 13th in prelims and last in finals.

Which is crazy when you think who their band director’s husband is.

A newer program still finding their footing across performance captions is perhaps among the least surprising things ever. No need to go there..

Man what a fun result!  Nothing crazy in the top 2 but some very spicy results after that in both absolute competition numbers, and in the captions.

I was very tempted to head over for Finals but I have to be honest, after the TX-OU game I was giddy and I feel like I was overserved which affected the rest of my evening (I was at home). 😀

I was watching the game on my phone in line to pick up, then had to dart over before the final play to get in line before the gates opened. It was a great day overall!

@utee94 do you or any other CP parents know why Cedar Park stopped coming to this contest? It made sense when they went to GN but they didnt come in 2025 either. Wondering why?

I don't know for sure, but last season with the sequence of UIL State and then BOA-SA and then Grand Nats, it was pretty exhausting, and it was incredibly expensive.  I think maybe the directors were just taking a bit of a break after expending so many resources-- physical, psychological, and financial-- the prior year.

All I do is schlep props and pay for my kids, but I can tell you I was completely worn out, and welcomed the break from so many competitions this season.

Well hopefully they are recovered for 2026. The contest feels weird without them.
