honestly it is a little skewering, elkins is surprisingly clean this year and has possibility to even break into finals which would be a big shocker. as for pm, i was beginning to lose hope given their track record recently, but depending on how they take the next 2 weeks until area, they could still be in the run. Overall though, I think the main thing to keep in mind is unless the judge at uil was extremely biased against clements, this could effect them a lot if they can't fix whatever issue caused them to get that rating to begin with, possibly even pushing them out of finals. there's a lot at factor here, but i still strongly believe that the main run is between pearland and dawson, with other major contenders for state being dickinson, brook, lake, foster, and even potentially pm depending on if everybody in region 19 advances to area.

does anyone have the list of bands going to gulf coast this saturday? i know that’s a good indicator for area results, but not a lot bands went last year.

From a direct comparison, I think Elkins had that well deserved musically and visually way cleaner and better sounding.

Those Elkins mellos are not to be messed with wow.

But PM won percussion not surprising.

Yea, though if I am remembering correctly the percussion scores were extremely close. I had gotten a glimpse at the recaps before they got deleted in one of the chats and I think it was like a 10 point difference or something. And if someone can confirm, I think actually Elkins won two of the sub captions, but PM's had enough of a gap in the third sub caption to beat the total still.

Region 19’s UIL is coming up this saturday, and they’re a major factor in whether we get 12 finalist/state bound bands at area, overall things look good, but it’s important to keep an eye on bands such as south houston to make sure they advance to area. if all bands do advance to are,  it could create an even larger possibility of finalist bands this year.

1 state spot for every 5 area bands, correct? If all R19 advance, what would area total be?

It’s about 24 bands I think, you can formulate a good prediction with this amount.

I mostly agree with you except I’ve got Foster at 3. They have already scored higher than everyone you have listed from 3-6 at BOA South Houston. They have a really clean show.

I kinda think Dawson could upset here. I think Pearland overtakes them at state eventually though.

Dawson just has a show that feels a little friendlier to the area sheets than Pearland, and they’re just a wee bit further in progression.

I think it’s super solid I love the soloists, and the overall sound is not bad at all. Some of those brass features are pretty good
