Take one day off and everybody posts show themes 🫠 These are all super cool tho!

The Good, the Bad, and the Galactic: I'm super interested in seeing how this pans out! Is it like a space cowboy theme? Anyways, I know that it's gonna look super cool! (I'm biased though, I love The Planets)

Pipelines: The show banner thingy looks super cool! Does anyone know if Austin is bringing back their guard or will it be dance for an indefinite time?

Alterego: I would die for this show theme! If its about duality or polar opposites or alter egos, I really want to see how this is communicated with the band and gaurd's uniform and choreo.

Feather Brained: I've also had a bird show! The music looks super cool, and it's super colorful! Do y'all have uniforms with feathers, or will it be like feather patterned but not actual feathers? If it's feathers, good luck with the shedding.

Metalmorphosis: Okay Elkins! I really like the idea, or what I've seen from the Insta post y'all have. Looking forwards to seeing y'all at contest!

Kinetic: This theme's got super cool potential, and I love the linear abstract pop neon colors! I already know the uniforms are about to eat that up 😋

Super cool shows all across the board, and I know it's going to be a treat watching everyone perform at Area this year! I'm also looking forwards to seeing all of the uniforms (mainly Alterego and Feather Brained), and I bet any guard choreo will eat up! Good luck everyone :D

Also, my band directors keep saying that our participation fees are one of the lowest in the state, and the lowest at the state marching contest, our fee is $350 just for participation, what are yalls?

yea ours are like $1300

Oh wow! Ours only gets that expensive for our new members because they have to buy flip folders, marching shoes, etc. but our color guard fees are INSANE! $300 for the color guard uniform, plus the $350 participation fee, and then another participation fee for the winter guard season.

They might be a bit lower than that but it’s over $1000, and I mean we do get a lot of stuff with it, but it’s definitely a lot of money lmao.

Hey guys, been a while since this thread has been active. How have y’all’s summer band camps been? Recently the biggest challenge at my band camp is the switch from bent leg marching to straight leg marching, but I think I’m finally getting the hang of it. Any other bands in Area E that do straight leg marching?

Yep! Foster does straight leg and always has done it. We've been doing great over here! We're coming into this season so locked in y'all just gotta be ready for it. We're already taking such great strides and it makes me excited because I think y'all are really going to enjoy "On the Flipside". I'm having so much fun over here and I hope y'all are having fun too! :)

Lots of bands do straight leg, but it is nice to see bent leg still around!

I think (from what I saw at Area finals last year and BOASA) that Pearland marches bent leg...what's funny is our head band director over here at Foster marched Phantom Regiment (who marches bent leg) but he completely refuses to use it haha

We at pearland very much do not match bent leg 😭, the white bibs from last year really made players with poor marching technique shine out in a way, it was just more noticeable in the white vs black bibs lol

Ohhhhhh I'm sorry I wasn't sure but honestly straight leg is easier to clean.

Ur good lol, but I do agree it’s easier to clean, we just had marchers last year who didn’t put in effort sometimes that’s all

I’m really impressed with how much they’ve put on the field. My band in this area just finished adding choreo into our opener today. We are marching and performing much harder drill and music though.

Yeah, we’re marching at much faster tempos so straight leg will be easier to march and clean

i dont believe any other schools have done this, pasadena memorial is one of the only schools in the entire state that i see having a public videographer upload their performances when they perform for any audience (in this case i believe its a parent presentation), it sucks that other schools dont do this but it’s still cool to see pasadena memorial uploading the progress they have made so frequently, especially this early!

Branching off this why are schools so opposed to videos of there shows online early in the season it’s not like football where you can steal plays and stuff I’m genuinely confused why it’s such a big thing.

Actually its much more common than you think. My freshman year, we had a band take a few of our formations in our show and put them in theirs and they ended up beating us at Area later on in the season, advancing them to State while we became State Alternates.

That’s seem like such a hassle why not just make a state quality show unfortunate that happened
