Potential Prelim Placements for Area I    ***(Dubious Speculation) ***

1st- Bridgeland

2nd- Jordan

3rd- Seven Lakes

4th- Cy-Fair

5th- Cinco Ranch

6th- Cy-Woods

7th- Tompkins

8th- James E. Taylor

9th- Katy

10th- Langham Creek

Keep in mind this list is Dubious at best; specific placements can differ substantially; some schools not mentioned on this list can breach into the top 10. Area I is a very competitive area, and things can change depending on run-to-run performance from these very talented kids. Either way, it will be a joy watch them all this upcoming Saturday!

What are y'alls thoughts on Langham on how they started off the season at BOA South Houston dead last, to where they are now in preparation for area.

They have made great strides but I believe their show design is holding them back. They don’t have the wow factor any of the finalists bands have. They don’t have a greatly complex show but they perform it really well it’s just a matter of how well on any given day as they have been inconsistent contest to contest.

It is my understanding that Langham Creek did not have 100% of their show finished for the BOA performance, hence the poor placement that day. However, they have been improving a great deal since then and their show has actually evolved a substantial amount as well. In relation to the UIL Area competition, I think it is important to discern the differences in the way this event is being judged as opposed to a BOA, Invitational, etc. UIL judging is in my opinion more focused on the fundamentals from each band, from marching technique to drill formation and obviously the musical maturity and cohesiveness among the players. It is also important to note that Langham Creek in past years have outperformed bands in UIL that had previously outplaced them in completions prior like the BOA's and Battle at the Berry etc.

I wouldn’t say they don’t have atleast some of the wow factor, their percussion feature visuals in the rest of the ensemble should score some good points, it’s good staging as well

It’s funny Ik where you’re talking about it’s my favorite part of their show!

Funny story. I watched the Langham Creek video and the next video up was the state champion band from Wisconsin. No offense to Wisconsin but that state band wouldn’t even make a 2 in Texas. Our students don’t realize just how strong they are, no matter where they place or what rating they earn. Texas is just a whole different ballgame.

Agreed. I thought the same of the New York champion. The California champion was actually pretty impressive, but a small band, so easier to pull off difficult shows.

Any chance they might change the date for area because of the rain?

It looks like it going to rain all day

Rain Date is November 4th (Monday)

what do you think of the ballad

I think it’s one of the better parts of their show. They perform it cleanly and it has some great Ge moments. I wanna see them expand on some of the choreo and I’ve seen they have been making Some change these past few weeks.

Interesting how areas/regions handle things a bit differently. Contest info for 6A Area F notes its Rain Date as Sunday the 3rd.

Any thoughts on Cypress Ranch?

I have friends from cy ranch and they said there gonna make state this year which is kinda hard to believe to be honest lol. But overall there show this year is so much fun to watch and listen too especially with the baritone duet they have (they were both 1st and 2nd chair for the TMEA region 27 band auditions last year for euphonium). And I also love how the woodwinds get to spin flags as well.

I enjoy their show, it’s pretty nice, really a big fan of the ballad with the woodwind thing as well, it’s a really fun show and they are performing it fairly well, I think UIL judges should reward that nicely
