I think the area D would like is I have a word 😂

but yeah, I is super competitive this year, honestly, this might be the most competitive year for Area in general for all classes, definitely 5A and 6A, at least imo. So many bands that were left out are now seeing success on a new level, and that’s happening to so many programs that we may have some new faces at state, and some long-timers may not make it, that’s how good everyone is getting

Very true. One thing that I love about Marching band is that it's always changing. It is hard to make the same products out of different shows, different ideas, And different people all around be judges or marchers.

we are making very good progress as we work to clean our show!!! Everyone in the band has agreed that we have improved SO MUCH since the 2022 season but it’s gonna be a tight race to make area finals this year. We were so close at beating JV and langham and battle at the berry

One thing I WILL say, is that I’m happy to see that as the years go on we see some 16-24th ranked bands move up on into the 15-12th range, for example cypress springs last year, I think mayde creek could graduate up into that range this year, it makes sense when you have 11-13th range bands moving up into finals like Langham Creek Cy Ranch Paetow possibly, just really nice to see the “underdogs” make some NOISE!

Since I’m bored I’ve decided to do floors and ceilings for each band including explanations 

1. Bridgeland 1-2

very self explanatory extremely clean with an extraordinarily complex show. Only way someone beats them is if they physically Try to lose.

2. Cy woods2-4

Seem to always comeback when everyone thinks there on a downfall. They have a really unique show that they perform clean while also sounding amazing. If someone beats Bridgeland it’s them. 

3. Cy fair 2-5

There show this year seems to be a step back from last year. While I do still have them making state it’s not so clear cut as it was last year. Still think they will place well due to them still having a great show.

4. Jordan3-7

They have greatly improved just like everyone thought they would. Them beating the likes of seven lakes and cinco backs up me having them go to state. Love the theme of there show hope to see them place well at smbc.

5. Seven Lakes 4-6

absolutely love their show this year. Extremely unique props and they just have a great overall sound. They are lacking behind the likes of fair and Jordan alittle but still think they make state. Can’t wait to see how much they have improved at area.

6. Cinco Ranch 4-7

I absolutely love their show LEMONS! Everyone had a lot of uncertainty about them coming into this year but they have certainly taken a step forward with this show. Their show is a GE monster but their problem is it’s not performed as cleanly as they need it to. They have a shot at state it’s just if they can iron out those problems come area.

7. Tompkins 4-9

Tompkins is more of an unknown. This year they seem to have stalled a-little compared to other bands it is possible they can make state but I just can’t see it with the other bands in this area. Still think they can place well in finals though.

8. Jet 4-10

They have so much potential with this year’s show. They have been up there in some contests with the likes of Jordan and seven lakes. It’s just if they can continue to improve. Come area time I hope to see them fighting for a chance at state.

9. Cy ranch 5-10

There show is about the same level I would say as their show last year. I think they will likely make finals but where is the key. With the likes of Langham, Katy and paetow lurking they need to capitalize on these last two weeks to iron out any problems they have. There is a possibility they can make state but it’s more on the unlikely side.

10. Langham creek 5-12

They have had a bounce back from boa Webster. Everyone seemed to have counted them out after that disappointing result. They bounced back only a week later to beat Katy and the week after that paetow. They have some serious field pulse issues they need to fix they had a huge tear at battle of the berry. Them making state is improbable but not impossible this area is unpredictable and anything can happen. Can’t wait to see them improve over the coming years.

I more certain with Katy as they seem to be around the same area as Langham and ranch I just see more areas to improve for the other bands thats why I have them out of finals. They have been kinda unpredictable with their results and seem to throw a wrinkle in everyone’s predictions.

12. Paetow 10-13

As mentioned earlier bc this thread they have seemed to max out the potential of their show.  They had a horrible result at battle of the berry and it’s really disappointing to see after all the hype they received at the beginning of the season.

I think I’m really feeling this right here, id personally love to see Langham Creek and Cy-Ranch in finals together, Katy can make finals but some of the programs have stopped a bit compared to last year and some of the others like the ones I’ve mentioned, have shot up.

Me personally i would love to see Jordan being able to beat out the cy fair schools, Jordan vs Bridgeland show would be a fantastic battle as they perform great and have a very cool and attracting show.

Online results are showing at least 3 groups already, Bellaire, Westside, and Lamar receiving 2's at Region 

Now the maximum number if EVERYONE else gets 1's will be 28 at Area

In order to send 5 to the state contest, we need 14/16 bands from Region 27 to get 1st divisions.

These bands consistently make 1s at the region contest minus Northbrook. I think it's safe to assume 5 spots are at area.

Bridgeland and Jordan have completed (Battle at the Berry) the scores were kind of close and Jordan performed right before bridgeland

That is something I have noticed about woods. I have seen it happen with their early scores at each contest, though they have relatively stayed consistent when it comes to late season.

Cy Woods historically (as of recent years) has always been a program that starts the season off slow, but finishes strong. So, their early season results usually aren’t the best indicator of how the rest of their season will go. This year though, they seem to be making that extra push to break into the next level after their very strong showing at TMC. Which makes me very excited to see the end result if they keep the momentum going, which I’m sure they are.

if I am being honest, the way everything is set up this year could be genuinely historic. however, we can't sleep on two bands, both being JET and Tompkins. I'll start with Tompkins, their opener is genuinely the best written for their members, and they perform it amazingly, and if they get foot timing clean enough, the visual color mixing and "dizziness" will get them BIG points at UIL. It's up to them to musically blow me away for the rest of the show though. Now, JET has the opportunity to genuinely come out of nowhere and upset everyone. Visually the best in KatyISD, but musically they lack the WOW factor that UIL judges look for. Everytime I have seen them perform, they always tear during their Vesuvius lick, and if they can get that clean and make the rest of the show as exciting as other shows like 7L or Jordan, I can easily see them beating out a powerhouse to get that 5th spot.

Woods started focusing on efficient rehearsals as soon as they started summer band and this is the fastest they have learned/cleaned a show. I’m hoping they can continue improving as they have in the past. After seeing the show all put together in uniform, I  decided I really like their show. Wasn’t sure how it would go before I saw it. The kids like the show too and their buy in helps sell it. They do have some work to do though and, being in the middle of Bandtober, everyone is feeling tired. I think the competition is really tough this year and things could go any number of directions. It’s exciting to see so much talent in the area!
