  1. Just chiming in for the first time. I watch from the sides like Rubisco. I think the top four will include CTJ, Flower Mound, Reagan, and Woodlands. All four shows have strong points. Clean is not as important as effective. Will the crowd enjoy it? Not will whitewing or Lkendrick or banddad or Leandermama enjoy. But will the crowd? The bloggers here are amazing but they are homers. Whitewing loves dfw. Rubisco love woodlands. Banddad loves San Antonio. I don’t care who wins. But based on concept I think Flower Mound or CTJ will take gold. Reagan third. Great shows.
  2. Hebron musical book was one of most spectacular things I have experienced by a high school band. So incredibly creative in the orchestration and amazing to listen to. Congratulations to all the bands!
  3. Winston Churchill is the dark horse. You need to be ready for them to have a great show in SA. They have great players and teachers. I am amazed how they blossom late season every year.
  4. LeanderMomma your reviews are spot in Where is Rubisco? I am curious of their thoughts For me, nothing beats Vandegrifts precission and straight leg marching. I do love Reagan's big flag moments they're so beautiful and memorable. Their shows just wouldn't be the same without that dance team and guard. Leander's music is catchy and amazing. The Woodlands are my favorite. I do think when they're complete and polished they will take it all. Rubisco? Whitewing? Principalagent? LKendrick?
  5. Where is Rubisco? We need a dose of reality LKendrick and Principalagent are a lot of hype (exciting reviews but often miss the boat in terms of the bigger picture) Rubisco brings a refreshing perspective that has been missing on this board this season Congratulations to all the great bands in Dallas
  6. I think Churchill will be in great shape, as they are cleaning quickly. They were much better on Tuesday night, and will keep cleaning with what is a really enjoyable show. I thought most of the NEISD bands were great. Reagan, Johnson, and Churchill are still in a league of their own. With Johnson and Churchill doing harder shows but having them finished, and Reagan only have through their ballad but being clean, it certainly makes it exciting heading into the weekend. I think Lee had the next best show, although with them being smaller it's easy to see why they might get overlooked, but they should do well at BOA SA later this year. Reagan plays and marches extremely well and has a great concept. It is maybe the best early season Reagan I have seen in some time. Johnson's show is very complex and exciting, and I heard they just finished learning it the day before the Tuesday night show so that might have explained the errors. But the show is so interesting and enjoyable. It has all the ingredients, and the kids are really amazingly trained. Churchill finished last week, and I heard had a much better performance on Tuesday than Saturday. I thought the Churchill show was a lot of fun. Good luck to all three groups this weekend. North East is fortunate to have those groups all in one place.
  7. Personally looking toward to seeing Marcus, TWHS, Cedar Park, CTJ, and Hebron this year as they were my favorites. Also thinking that Vandegrift and Reagan could be the dark horses this year. Usually Rubisco has some good thoughts by now? We will see!
  8. reagan and bowie = GN finalist locks. nothing else need be said! i'm off to have a hamburger and watch some reruns from the weekend.
  9. i would've liked to have seen BA win, mason in top 5 and, bowie higher too. realize it didn't work out that way but thems my thoughts. those were my favorites!
