Actually they play really well and in-tune. The reason they did not do any better was for the fact that they have a drumline that needs ton of help and their visual program needs a little boost in creativity. Just a little. Another addition to the list of my favorites--- "Promise" from the Cadets 2000 show. Phenominal French Horn run. If you have never heard this...tack-hammer time.

Portugal vs Netherlands = 16 yellows (tied the FIFA World Cup record) Nine yellows for Portugal and seven yellows for the Netherlands. Two red cards for both teams. Regardless, cards are overhyped by the stereotypical ESPN analyst. And besides referees--like marching/concert band judges--referee (for lack of a better word) the match. The specator, competitors, staff does not. We can have our opinion about it but when it comes down to the decision the trained referees are most likely to be right.

Its futbol lol . I wonder what they call football in Europe--is it football or something else---or why can they call football, soccer or vice versa.

I was browsing through my daily checks and I found this on the Cadets website. I know its going to cause controversy no matter what I say. But I personally am going to wait until DCI SA to give my opinions on the Cadets and even all the other corps. For all I know--my beloved Blue Devils and Bluecoats could have shows that I dislike---most likely not--but it could happen. Enjoy... Feedback to the Cadets 2006 Production In our efforts to bring you all of the news about the Cadets in a "fair and balanced" approach, we give you these two e-mails from recent Cadets' appearances in Birmingham and Pwder Springs, GA. We hope you'll take away your own impressions of the show this year and send them to us at hopkins@yea.org, but for now, here's what two spectators had to say. "I just wanted to voice my opinion to someone about what I think Drum Corps is all about. I've been a fan of Drum Corps ever since 1979 and Love it with all my heart. This past Thursday I attended the show at Birmingham Al. And loved it, well most of it. I speak for myself and many other that were around me a little frustrated with the addition of singing in a Drum corps show. The Cadets, one of my favorite groups, had a young lady singing on one song, and 4 others dressed up in strange costumes running around talking at different points. Now I know different strokes for different folks, but the thing that bothered me the most was at the end of the song when the horns are building big, we had to strain to hear 100 horn playing with all their might, because the singer was so loud in the sound system. People go to drum corps because there is no where else to hear the great level of playing ability and choreography all put together. If I want to hear someone sing, I'll watch American Idol. My sincere hope is that Drum & Bugle Corps will stay Drum & Bugle Corps. It is AWESOME!!!!" David Young "I am writing to you today as a result of attending The Atlanta Brass Classic two nights ago in Powder Springs, GA. Last year was the first time that I was aware of the Show. Having the show only 3 miles from my home is a blessing that I never thought I would enjoy and seeing The Cadets there and knowing later that they once again won DCI, was the icing on the cake. Sadly, for me at least it would seem, I am a Drum Corps Traditionalist! But, like me, at the close of the opening sequence with the "SINGING AND ELECTRONICS" the entire audience was so awed and seemingly appalled.......the silence was deafening! I felt so sorry for the girl singing...yet glad...hoping that maybe this would be the nail in the coffin of such outlandish JUNK, I pray that common sense would prevail and the singing, pink tables, 10,000 fru fru panels and the blue fru-fru backing on what once used to be glorious Cadet Uniforms would all be scrapped and the junk burned. To be more constructive from a General Effects viewpoint...The entire Hornline and Drumline are masked by all the contrasting colors, the dancers uniforms, the overused worn pink colors on the tables and the distracting large panels in the background. The show honestly would be great on Broadway. But,to me, and apparently to the majority of the people in the stands, it has no place in competitive Drums Corps. I found myself suddenly pulling for Phantom Regiment, Boston Crusaders or even the Corps-Vets to win Friday night ( and they only had half a show ready to perform). Even the lesser Corps were, at least, all Drum Corps. I hope that you will accept this critique will the good intention that it is meant and for the good of Drum and Bugle Corps." Sincerely yours: Duane Baay

They were the last 5A Honor Band. By rule, they can not compete in the next one. -

Right....and the Bluecoats have a ton to do with that!!! -
I woke up about 7 am on a Saturday--ate breakfast, took a crap, etc. Started roughly about 8 am. Warmed up on lip slurs, progressed to tonguing (single, double, then triple), then went to scales (major, minor--natural, harmonic, melodic). Played them in different patterns (8/16, 16/32. tongue up/slur down, etc). Then I ate lunch and used the restroom about 1 pm--watched a little bit of the TV. Started up again about 2:30. Then I started to practice my audition music for wind ensemble auditions for college. That piece is a bioch. I ended about 5:30/6ish. Then I put ice on my lips.
