Not. The sound of drum corps is too unique to spoil it with woodwinds...much as I love woodwinds (as lhsfluter exemplifies, they're always the most attractive ), I can get my fill of marching woodwinds in school marching band (thank the fates for BOA!)...the drum corps sound is too hard to find anywhere else, and too unique, to lose it for the ages with woodwinds.

Hidalgo's currently signed up (at last check). Other than those three, no one from Texas. -
He has to have been...that's the only way He could have had such a twisted sense of humor for life to happen: only a band geek would give the universe life for kicks. Was volunteering to lead services on Friday night and Saturday a good idea, seeing as it immediately follows my last AP test?

Now to the obsessive-compulsive overanalysis... Anyone have any guesses as to why Richland and Haltom are only doing San Antonio this year? I can understand them wanting the time in the dome to prep for State, but why not do any of the others? Bell I can see wanting the later date (same weekend as last year's Arlington) for their show (whatever it is)...bit more time to clean before the home-stretch into Nationals... Anyone have any thoughts as to why TWHS is coming up this-a-way? -
Yeah, we were...you see where Avery taking over a run-and-gun got us? A finals collapse and back-to-back first round folds.

For some reason, reading that made me laugh harder than anything since the first time I saw "Powerthirst"

Same with ours...there are nine people trying out, including the three from last year...so basically, we're probably going to have the same drum majors as last year (not a bad thing...we did win best drum majors at one of our contests)... There's one guy though...incoming junior, about 6' 6"...we've been friends since middle school...I'm kinda hoping for him to get one of the spots, if for no other reason than to save us having to lug a third podium.

Anyone else see D'Antoni potentially going to Toronto? Their team's practically built for the "Seven Seconds or Less" game. And for some unknown reason I find hilarious the possibility that Phoenix's move for more defense would be to hire Avery.

State S&E

Yeah...I mean, I knew I wasn't going to do that well (folded on the last page of a 4-page piece), but...he could have given me a better critique than "good job, adjusting the height of the keyboard." -

I'm still shaking my fist at you that you made it, Ara. Blankety-blanking percussion judges. -
I would agree with that...I personally would love to send Kidd and Howard to the Clippers for sign-and-trade Elton Brand and Cuttino Mobley. It works for the cap space (under the league cap trade rules) depending on the contracts...and Donald Sterling's just nuts enough to think it's a good deal.

So 'Nova apparently told a group that did a mini-gig on Tuesday that the movie we're doing music from (maybe) is "Signs." I personally have issues with M. Night Shymalan, just in general (Sixth Sense was cool, his script for Stuart Little was cool...everything else of his that I've seen is just kinda blah).

I had an idea for a seamless show once upon a time...basically, it was a slight reworking of "Blue Shades"...the whole thing, not just the opening 66 bars and everything after the slow section like everyone else does (IMHO, the slow section in that's the best part). Ah well, just a random idea. And it only really works if your uniforms are blue (not, for instance, purple...like ours).

OK...now that BD's officially announced its show (see here), I'm rewriting my wishful thinking of a few months ago to call...a tie. 1) Blue Devils, The Cavaliers 3) Phantom Regiment 4) Santa Clara Vanguard 5) Carolina Crown 6) The Cadets

You forgot Star in '91.

Possibly... Maybe it was '05 I'm thinking of, but there was one year that SA beat LA to go to the Finals...
-
Interesting...I'm calling that series Suns in 6...the Spurs don't have an answer for Shaq (see: 2003 conference final, and the two Suns/Spurs games since the deal).

Paschal got straight 1s at Region 7 UIL yesterday... we're near-definitely using the cut of Awayday we got from the contest for Honor Band...re-recording Rolling Thunder and Lincolnshire ('tis a pity you can't mix and match movements of a piece; only 4th and 5th movements of Lincolnshire need work).
