  1. I'm gonna stay here definitely... I just wanna wait until the marching talk is over with. I'm ready to start a new chapter. However... what can we all massively talk about now that there aren't a lot of competitions? Haha.
  2. Oh, I'm so bummed I didn't get to go. I went last year, and I really enjoyed myself.
  3. Depends on what class. What classes do you hate tests in?
  4. Go conally! I loved their show a lot. I actually ended up getting (very illegal lol) video of them and a whole bunch of pictures. The show was just so interesting and very clean. I think the results were the way they should've been.
  5. Hahaha. I knwo for a fact that we and Sherman aren't staying in the same place. That'd be cool, though. Anyway... After 5 hours of sleep, it's time to get ready for a "wake up" rehearsal. My last poston here before state. GOOD LUCK! Hopefully we (everyone in every band) all leave the field feeling happy. No regrets.
  6. Well... the way I heard it 'round the ol' Sherman pit truck was that they were missing a 1st trumpet/section leader and a baritone/section leader so that might've affected it a bit. Imagine last year missing RK.... well you don't have to imagine it because it happened. It affected our sound. It was way mondo better in finals though.
  7. Something that I witnessed that I really thought was pretty cool was "section time" that Sherman had. Before prelims, everyone got with their sections (the trombones/baritones over by a tree far, far away from the band, the tubas sleepign in their cases, etc.) and got focused and pumped up at the same time. It was a really neat thing to witness.
  8. defunct... I don't think anyone answered your question. They got either lost or were running late or something went wrong. Their pit truck didn't show up until... 10 minutes into their warmup time, and their band arrived later. So, they put a break where their slot was and gave them enough (sort of) time to set up/warmup so they could still perform.
  9. I'll give my opinions (though I didn't get to see a lot since I was with bands most of the time). I have to say that Plano East is improving very drastically in a short period of time. Their performance, musically, was just so powerful. Even while they were warming up, they had a warmth to their tone that I hadn't heard in previous years. I'm not sure how their marching went (though I assume it went well), but even from backfield, you could still hear just how good their music was. I, personally, thought that Sherman deserved to get higher in finals. I mean, yeah, they might not have had their best performance ever in prelims, but they did soooo much better in finals. I thought it sounded and looked good (which is amazing after the whole warmup fiasco). I guess the judges must've seen things wrong that I didn't or maybe the other bands were just better in their eyes. I was just really surprised. I was really impressed with Aledo though. Whoa. I don't think I saw them at area, but I know that it probably was not as good as it was at CMF. I want to see how well they do at state. If they march a show like they marched last night... watch out state. We, at Centennial, marched a good show. That's all I'm going to say. There were mistakes, of course, but I felt that it was a good performance. That's all I can say (very unofficially). Another surprise for me: Plano Senior High. I know it's all about east over in Plano, but oh my... I thought Plano looked pretty good.
  10. Where did you get Birdville from? LOL. By the way, at area, did Birdville get 6th? I don't remember if it was them or Joshua maybe. P.S. I met you last night! Haah.
  11. Wasn't the first time we'd hosted a contest. We did a DCI one a year (or two) ago, and that wasn't any smoother (but very similiar when it came to warmup spots and scheduling and whatnot). I wonder if we'll do another. EDIT: And just to clarify that... I didn't mean that to mean "omg the contest sucked." I meant that as how I said it. I thought the majority of the contest went pretty well for running a contest like this for the second time.
  12. I don't know if I can think of a band over her that does that... lol.
  13. I'll be sure to change it when/if I feel like it. And if you mean TC as "the colony" then no. Prelims order was Sherman, Aledo, Centennial, Joshua, The Colony if I'm not mistaken (feel free to correct me if I am). I don't know if you feel like arguing just for the sake of arguing, but I'm not going to respond anymore.
  14. Ummm... we did exhibition at 10 so uhh... results didn't get announced till like... 1030... 1st: PESH 2nd: Dripping Springs The rest I don't remember exactly (I was changing out of pants for the most of it). Finals: PESH, Dripping Springs, Aledo, Sherman, PSH, Wakeland, Allen, Arlington Martin, The Colony, Mansfield (I think that's it?) Umm... I remember being really surprised when I heard the prelims/finals results (Sherman placed a lot lower than most of us expected... and honestly, I liked the shows... both of them). I guided Lake Dallas, Sherman (x2... I'm really sorry that you guys had such a mixup in finals), and PESH. I met pretty much all the Sherman people on here, and I have to say... I love you guys. I felt very immersed in the Sherman-osity.
  15. I'll be Lake Dallas' if any of you guys are on here. Then again, if I'm about to leave then I doubt you guys are still on here. Haha.
  16. LOL... I'd love to see all area B and D bands make finals. That'd be pretty funny.
  17. You know... I fully think you deserved to beat us. We didn't march that great of a show, and I heard you guys did. Also, you put fight into people that didn't have it. You should've seen our faces when you guys got called out in finals and we hadn't yet. Haha. People were a little *too* excited.
  18. There aren't really "a lot" of people from our school on here, but alright.
  19. I'd love to see a brass player as drum major in my school. This year, we have three clarinet drum majors. But onto topic... I'll see if I want to try out for drum major for next year. I mean, most people come into high school band wanting to be one, but I've been put under so much pressure as a section leader (some of it self-done) that I'm scared of drum major pressure. Plus, I'd probably miss marching too much.
  20. I doubt those were really your top goals. lol. Our main goal was "mission: whatever it takes" which didn't mean whatever it took to get to state, but it meant whatever it took to do the best we could do. For me, it was "mission: no regrets" which is just to leave the field not wondering if I could've done better.
  21. They still have some of those contests... they're just only nerve wracking once instead of twice. Haha. Also have 'em at area for really small areas.
  22. I don't think I've tried to isolate any brass section to listen to nor have I heard that many bands. That's a tough question. I know Sherman has a pretty good brass line.
  23. Oh my gosh. Another thread for state. Haha. Like I said in another thread: I want to see all the bands I can because the more bands I see, the more I miss school, the more I learn about marching, the more fun I have, and the more school I miss. Umm... I want to see Connally's show. I want to see Poteet's. I'd love to get a glimpse of Fossil Ridge's. There are just so many good bands I want to see (and of course, I want to see everyone's I've already seen). Who's going to take the spots? Umm... I don't know. We'll see.
  24. No. Because I don't take boring computer classes. Are most trumpets egotistical or is that a generalization?
