  1. Do you think this would be more likely to go into effect in 2026 or 2028?
  2. Yeah you're probably right. It's just an overall strange solution to me, its unfortunately a bit of a situation where no matter what happens, it will disadvantage somebody. But unfortunately, it has to be done, and that two areas is probably the way to go, unless we do like a full redraw of every region or something, but I think that for the most part, the alignment of regions makes sense to me. I like your insight on it and it helps with how I view this whole situation.
  3. My personal opinion is the state of the areas rn, we dont see J go away yet, but we could see slight changes. One thing could always be plugging in a couple of people from J to the other areas to get a slightly better balance. Maybe something like LE/Braswell/Guyer to Area B or the Wylies to Area C; not both though unless we want a big alignment. However, I think we could also see some changes in area j that could lead to a redraw. Braswell and Northwest are opening their own high schools, Argyle is opening one basically barring them from future 6A possibilities, Little Elm and maybe Guyer could drop to 5A with enrollment decline, who even knows what will happen for Frisco (more specifically Wakeland and Reedy)
  4. Keep in mind that both B and J would have 23 people given the current alignment assuming everyone gets a division 1. C will have either 20 or 22 (if Garland and Rowlett opt up, 23. Currently shows them as 6a on TMEA alignment page despite them both being under cutoff)
  5. This alignment, I have noticed a lot of people talk about a possibility of a big realignment of these 3 areas in DFW, due to some factors like the strength of Area J and enrollment decrease in Area C. What do you guys think about this, and what do you think will happen regarding these 3 areas?
  6. On TMEA alignment page for 26/28, it lists Rowlett and Garland as 6a, will they be opting up for all sports and etc or is this just an error that hasn't been fixed yet?
  7. Adding on to that, yeah seeing Gatesville making a comeback will make sense. I'm trying to think of who might make area finals, I'm thinking Sanger or Lake Dallas. But who knows, anyone could sneak up and make finals
  8. You're probably right, but hey don't count anyone out just yet 🤫 Even if it's not this year give them a couple years, i could see that happening because of how fast they're growing
  9. With the big hole that Panther Creek and also Richland left in finals moving up to 5A, makes me wonder if we can see someone new in finals or state this year! Maybe Sanger or Lake Dallas?? Maybe even Ranchview could be a possibility. This will be exciting. Makes me wonder too if aubrey could sneak up and beat China Spring, i mean Aubrey is basically 5A at this point, just got unlucky with where the numbers got placed. It will be an exciting year if these regions stay the way they are!
  10. Assuming regions remain the same, here is what could be our 4A area B for this year. Bands: Aubrey Alvarado Benbrook Bridgeport Brownwood Burkburnett Castleberry Carrollton Ranchview China Spring Connaly Dallas Carter Dallas Conrad Dallas Kimball Dallas Lincoln Dallas Pinkston Dallas Roosevelt Dallas Townview Center Decatur Ferris Fort Worth Carter-Riverside Fort Worth Diamond Hill-Jarvis Fort Worth Eastern Hills Fort Worth Southwest Fort Worth Western Hills Gainesville Gatesville Glen Rose Godley Graham Hillsboro Iowa Park Kennedale Krum Lake Dallas Lake Worth La Vega Mineral Wells Ponder (welcome to 4A) Robinson Sanger Springtown Stephenville Venus Waxahachie, Life School of Wilmer-Hutchins
  11. My take on it. Looking at any social media (especially Instagram and Youtube) you will see that there is a culture of these Bakery-style pages and their own life and community has been developed about it. And i think that this culture is what brings so many people to stay into these programs. You ever think about how many people discuss big shows such as Penstriped on the community and even smaller shows like that plano east show with the pickaxes. It's almost like a culture in a culture almost. I don't think the world of marching band would run without these people that spend their time sharing marching band shows both big and small. Matter of fact there are also people who have STAYED in band because of this community. I know for one that I nearly quit entirely a while ago, but I think seeing the community and seeing shows both old and new is what led me to stay. I think it was watching those 90s Spring shows and like 2010s Marcus that made me realize the ability of the community. And because of that there is also traditions and memories. Think of the Leander 2023 tuba-trombone soloist. When that first came out it was everywhere on those channels, and people still talk about it to this day. I think the biggest thing though is: these bands, whether its 10 people or 500 people strong, all spend hours of their life each week from July to October or November. They could be working a job, partying, or even just hanging at home but they come out and they bring a show, doesn't matter if they are 3nd division or if they are the Grand National Champion. We are in a society where music education funding is lower, and band fees have increased. Even for professional drum corps like we are currently seeing for the Mandarins, we are seeing financial troubles with increasing funds and more fundraisers/spirit nights, and a decrease in school/public funding. Does this paywall contribute to this? Does it contribute to the directors, drillwriters, composers, technicians, volunteers, logistics crew, copyright owners, and more importantly the STUDENTS that this paywall is blocking? All it does is benefit BOX5 and Tim Snyder for them to bring more money into their pockets, where it could be going towards bettering our music education in a world where the funding and support is increasing. These videos were our way of spreading word of music education. Some people have boomed like crazy (think TXHSbands, all those Marching band bakery channels, no common sense, etc.), and I don't think that marching would be as big as it is without these people, even if they glaze some schools more than others they have a place in the marching band world and with BOX5 blocking access to all BOA content under both a paywall and limit, this will put our community at a position where it may not be as known and put the music world at a cap that previously wasn't there due to these accounts. I seriously hope that BOX5 will see the people speak out and make a change. If crown can do it, even if Cracker Barrel can listen to their community BOX5 can too.
  12. I have a feeling that Denton's 5th high school in Cross Roads will be named at either their Febuary or January board meetings. Just a bit of a gut feeling but it just makes sense to me. Wonder what it'll be called.
  13. For sure, i mean like you said even looking at bands like Allen and PW and even saying some schools that are a little more disregarded like LE, V.R Eaton, Northwest, matter of fact the rest of Area J all had great shows, and same thing for the schools I mentioned. It sucks that some of these schools have to be 18th 19th and 20th and etc because just looking at how some of these schools performed at Area/equivalent contests (USBands ATT for NW since they didnt go to area) putting these programs at these placements seems like an understatement all the time. Of course theres gonna be a middle line but I don't think that there is any school in this area out of the 21 (and 23 if you count Walnut Grove and Wakeland next year) that you would consider "bad". Matter of fact i'd say that applies to most if not all of the bands in our area. But i guess since its a contest, the inevitability of ranking the bands has to be done.
  14. Region 2 to C would be an interesting move considering C is the east region, but yeah i feel like that could happen. 2 is Denton ISD and The Colony and Argyle right? Would be a pretty interesting move if that were to happen.
  15. Area J is one of those areas where you could say that each of the 23 bands that participate are cracked. It sounds like an overstatement but i really mean it, i feel like every band in this area would go so far if it werent for the fact that these bands had to be ranked.
  16. I think that both Davis and DHS#5 will start 5A when they both open this following year. However, regarding 2028, I think Davis will be 6A and the new Denton school will be on the fence. Of course this will all depend on how much people they want to zone as they open and such, but given current enrollments of Eaton and Nelson, both are over 3000 and NW High is around 2800ish so id say they will have a shot at 6A. For DHS#5 i feel confident since it is west of the creek (in Cross Roads), it will only split off from Braswell (if they were they could prob zone from Ryan but I don't see that happening unless they get a growth spurt), especially with new construction in the 380/Cross Roads/South Aubrey area. But as of now Braswell is at 2783, so I could see both them and the 5th high school being 5A unless growth says otherwise because of the decline in public school enrollment. For Aubrey, theyll be ready for 5A next alignment, the numbers were just out of their favor, plus the Silverado and etc growth is pretty wild right now.
  17. I think more things will chance, this still feels a lot like 2024. Id expect more things closer to Feburary-ish when they release the districts for athletics. I have a feeling something will chance, possibly in 2/24/25 region wise. Will probably be something simple like swapping a few ISDs around with eachother for balance
  18. Don't forget GISD has their open enrollment system, meaning anyone from any corner of the district could go to the other side. Someone in 635 Garland could go to Sachse, or someone from Rowlett could go to Lakeview, or really any possibly scenario like that. Leaves GISD in a bit of a pickle regarding enrollment, well not for football because they all opt up LOL but for other activities such as band where they don't opt up.
  19. 6A Area B newcomers/bubble Aledo 2404 Granbury 2264 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chisholm 2199 Mansf. Legacy 2198 Azle 2177.5 (only if cutoff is low enough, doubtful right now though. I think as of now the cut will be near 2200, so Chisholm and Legacy will be RIGHT on the bubble. If Chisholm is out though so will Legacy who was 6A. (frenship memorial too) Interesting scenario right there. I'd say Granbury is pretty safely in there though.
  20. The cutoff if we did top 250 without any opts and etc would be 2199, with Mansfield legacy being the 250th largest enrollment wise. This would mean that Melissa and Wakeland would both be 6A. If top 200, 2345 would probably be enrollment, Dekaney (spring) has that enrollment as the 200th.
  21. Not important to band at all but the smallest school recorded is San Vicente at the grand total of 3 students, just a little fun fact
  22. Pretty interesting to see how there is a confirmed list of participants this early. Expect some people to drop but if it stays like how it is and more, this will be one of the contests to watch!
  23. The 2026 Melissa Marching Invitational will be held at CKD Stadium in Melissa on 9/26/2026 Confirmed Bands (11/26/2025) source: Melissa Band website. Argyle HS Celina HS The Colony HS Garland HS Arlington James Martin HS Hebron HS Heritage HS Highland Park HS Lakeview Centennial HS LD Bell HS Lebanon Trail HS Liberty HS Little Elm HS Lone Star HS McKinney HS Frisco Memorial HS North Forney HS Panther Creek HS Wylie East HS
  24. Im aware of that, but I have no clue what their numbers are for this alignment. Since its a smaller town they probably shrank a bit but I could see them returning
  25. Anyone know anything about lake dallas? They were 5A in 2023 but I havent heard much about them this alignment.
