UIL 5A AREA C 2025
MoBone replied to Idkwhattoputhere's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
North Poteet West Mt Pleasant West needs to remember what happened to them last year and make sure they redeem themselves. That’s the only reason I place them so high. and just to confirm is it 3 that advance or 4?- 369 replies

It’s puzzling to say the least -

100% agree, cuz one judge was like “youre going to state” and another was like “how’d you make finals?!” -

The judges had them all over the place. Honestly seeing their scores made me question these judges. -

Mesquite has 5 high schools , 3 are already 5A, Mesquite would be the closest to bumping down to 5A as they are less than 200 students shy of the enrollment requirement. John Horn is close to 3,000 students so it’s definitely not them. On the other hand North Mesquite is 100 students shy of meeting 6A requirements. West Mesquite less than 200. I’d rather have those 2 schools come to 6A if we’re gonna lose garland and rowlett. -

Seems to be a running theme, I know John Horn is the same, half the band is freshmen. -

The band that’s 15 or 16th this year should look at that as motivation. -

Actually the mistake was I meant to put “Waxahachie and *Rockwall are not gonna let go of those two spots” meaning I believe Waxahachie will be 1st and Rockwall 3rd, I believe someone else other than Forney will be 2nd (I know it’s an unpopular pick at this time but just my gut feeling on these too early predictions lol) probably Sachse at the 2 and a JJ Pearce or Berkner at the 4th -

For finals dont think Waxahachie and Forney are gonna let go of those 2 spots anytime soon. Well actually I take that back. Waxahachie does have a new school that’s expected to be opened in fall of 2027. Time will tell what will happen there. Rockwall, since their 2018 state run have stayed really close to that state qualifier so they’re probably consistent enough to stay around there. Heath ? No finals in 23’, finals in 24’ state in 25’ ….26’ To be continued. the dark horse or horses I feel will come out of one of the Mesquite schools. Idk if it plays a part but their 5A programs are solid. We could very well see all 3 of their 5A go to state this Saturday. Does that put pressure on the 2 in 6A? Idk, but they’re both trending in the right direction. If not Mesquite, I’d say Royse City or Tyler would be the ones to get in. As far as advancing, Waxahachie until the new school opens, Rockwall barring something crazy happening, the 3 and 4? Way too early to tell but I could see a Berkner or a JJ Pearce taking one of those spots. Should be interesting. -

There were a few that I questioned myself. High and low, like there were some pretty significant differences in their scores -

Actually looking back on it. Waxahachie and Forney making it 2 years in a row since joining area C would be our new “LISD” smh lol -

If the full recap is what is available on the uil website then that’s all I have. But it’s nothing like the sheets we see from a usbands or boa. -

Also, how is this thing scored? I see the judge puts a rank, do they literally watch the entire show and say “ok they should be 5th or 10th” or is there some sort of guide or rubric they use? Because some of these judges are way off of each other, just wondering what is the science behind it. -

Just Great! we just got rid of LISD hogging all of the state spots only for Rockwall ISD to do the same lol jk Congrats to ALL of the bands that performed today -

Technically needs to be cleared out by like 9 am at the latest. Considering warm up slots. Right now it’s saying cloudy with 20% chance of rain between 10 am to 8 pm. Which should be enough for prelims. But finals? Not so much. Which could mean it’ll be a one run show. Which would suck to be honest. -
