LD Bell 2008
Fata1 replied to guitar's topic in Everything Music: Marching, Concert, Auditions and more
That'd be amazing. However, Marcus could give Bell a serious run for there money at the state title. -
Our team won last night with a score of 50-24. We went about an hour away to Dallas and played Samuell HS, a team we'd never played before.

2008 Duncanville Marching Invitational

We'll be going. -
Our first day wasn't too bad. We had band in the morning before school. Then I went through my schedule. My AP English IV teacher gave us a seventy something page reading assignment to be done by Friday. AP Calc was the only class I really enjoyed. I also have an off period this year which is cool. After school we had two hours of band. It went well, for the most part. This year's going to be the best so far by a lot.

Favorite Concert Band Pieces
Fata1 replied to TRtrumpet's topic in Everything Music: Marching, Concert, Auditions and more
My two favorite pieces that I've played so far are Enigma Variations and Redline Tango. Both are amazing and a lot of fun to play. There are too many pieces that I haven't played to list but I would kill to play Symphonic Metamorphoses and the Pines of Rome. -
Neither of the two sites are working for me. Thank God txbands won't be going down.
-
That's insane. I guess it just proves that the level of competition is so close between certain bands that it can come down to what the judge felt like listening to.
-
Yeah, no kidding.
-
I'm about to go see it now. You people have built my expectations pretty high. It best be good.

Wow, BD's got themselves a nice lead going. I expected them to win but not by that much.

2008 TMEA Honor Band Programs
Fata1 replied to Xenon's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
On the 27th, I think. They do it at the TBA Convention. -
Wow, with the Cavies new score, I wonder how things will turn out in San Antonio.

2008 TMEA Honor Band Programs

It wouldn't really surprise me if it were the real version. I bet some of these honor band competing bands can play certain grade 4 pieces. -

Yeah, we heard them down in San Antonio. -

They play it great, too. I won't say who it is but I heard them earlier this year and they sounded awesome. -
Our school did a samurai show back in 2006. I think it goes without saying that this is designed and executed thousands of times better than we ever could. On a side note, a tuba player of ours who graduated in 2006 is marching with the Cavaliers, this year, for his first time. For that reason, I'm going for the Cavaliers this year.

Summer Music Camps!
Fata1 replied to TRtrumpet's topic in Everything Music: Marching, Concert, Auditions and more
I'm pretty sure our three Drum Majors were there. How was it? -
Needs a lot of cleaning but I assume that all of the corps do since it is the beginning of the season. I really like their show and they do a good job at it. On a side note, a tuba player from Southwest (graduated in '06) is marching with the Cavaliers this year.

Gorgeous Horn Playing
Fata1 replied to Xenon's topic in Everything Music: Marching, Concert, Auditions and more
Ha, I've seen this video so many times. I envy her horn playing. -
I can't wait. I'll have to look for G4's coverage so I can record it. I'd love a Zelda announcement. Hopefully one that is more of a sequel to Twilight Princess. I'm also really looking forward to hearing Microsoft's announcements and anything by Blizzard about Starcraft II. Edit: Forgot to mention Fable 2. Anything about that game will be a real treat.

I really think Lopez can pull of top seven. There's often an underdog that does better than most think they will. Last year, in the 4A competition, Centennial and Southwest took second and third place respectively even though it was there first time submitting. I'm really pulling for Lopez.
-
I'm happy to see Lopez going so far. Our band director worked there before coming to Southwest. He brought them to second place in the 4A Honor Band competition a while back. It's cool to see them doing so well in 5A now.

Ha, wow, that's a lot of edits. Still, you could have been right. Four out the five of the scores flipped from Region to Area.
