Rain location is the indoor facility at Lindale. There likely will not be any spectators.

They’ve made finals in the past! I think with the changes to this area there will be a lot of new schools advancing. I have not seen Sanger’s show this year.

Not shady. Originally they were anticipating likely rain delays in the morning. Although now it looks more like rain all day, unfortunately. I think the weather combined with the 2+ hour distances some band have to travel that the day is going to end up a mess all the way around unless the weather takes a significant turn. I think anything they can do to make it possible for bands to perform safely and on equal standing will be appreciated by all. Some bands are naturally going to be at a disadvantage based on what the weather is doing and performance times.

A slightly revised schedule has been posted. Not as different as I was told it was going to be. Looks like they moved the break earlier but that really only ends up helping three bands. A little birdie told me the schedule might be changing slightly due to threat of rain and bands needing to travel super long distances. I don’t think there’s a chance in heck Celina doesn’t make finals even with an early spot.

I have STRONG feelings about this area, lol. It’s one of my favorites. You can see lots of predictions if you scroll back through the forum. There are many predictions and shifted predictions as we moved through the season. One more week!

Looks like get there early and don’t leave is the best plan.

I would argue that bigger and louder does not always equal better. Just my two cents.

Saw the full show on Friday and feel like it is coming together much better than previous years, especially two years ago.

Having seen both bands a few times, North Lamar is significantly above Paris. I think they have a shot at redeeming themselves a bit this year. It’s the strongest NL band I’ve seen in the past few years. Nowhere near 2010s caliber but so much better than the last few years. Paris has a cute show. I love the Paris, Texas Eiffel Tower. I do not know if it is state level but with the number of bands advancing from this region they might have a chance.

None of this is available for this area yet. No clue why.

I get my area and state rules wonky. Is it always 10 bands in state finals?

I cannot find any videos of Celina’s full show. They only marched half at the first two contests. I also can’t find any of SS since Princeton.

I will happily eat my words later today, but I’m not confident that will happen.

I haven’t kept up with who has or has not qualified. I can only answer the last. Yes, if a military band qualifies for area that counts as a state spot. That’s why area c always sends a lot of bands compared to other areas that do not have military bands.

Oh man. I guess Grand Saline is not advancing. 1-3-2! So upsetting when judges are that inconsistent.

Will Point is definitely 4A. Not sure why they performed with 3A-5A. Probably locally scheduling issues of some sort (PSAT, maybe?)

In addition to Commerce and Malakoff, I saw that Grand Saline will advance Lone Oak, Edgewood, and Rains are not advancing

I hope they do! I’ve been a fan of their program for a long time. Not sure how I missed them this year. I usually see them multiple times before area or state.

I had to go a few Facebook pages to get the Region 3 results. No clue why they aren’t updating the website. Most region secretaries are on top of it!
