One poor CS girl had her flag placed in the wrong place. She tried to work without it but then made a bolt across the field for it. I felt so sorry for her because she was obviously out of place and it wasn’t her fault.

Wow. I did not even realize that happened! I know Randall didn’t make finals last year but Canyon did. Two years ago I think they both did? It’s a blur.

They don’t HAVE to be top 3. The fight for the podium is going to be a battle. They have the potential to be but so do a lot of other bands.

You’re gonna get the China Spring kids all fired up with that extra s at the end, lol Don’t forget about Canyon, Calallen, and Randall! They’ve placed well in the past. Finals is going to be very tight.

I would almost say that too but they did it in prelims AND finals. It even rained during their prelims performance!

Bridge City sort of came out of nowhere at area. Their placement surprised me. Honestly, their color scheme was very similar to Sulphur’s and the two shows blurred together in my head a little bit. I had to go back and watch a video to even remember what they did.

NL also has a disadvantage in that they play first! I hate that they drew first again. It’s like the second time in the past three years they’ve had the first slot. Never go gambling with their directors! also, Farmersville has been to state before just not in 4A

Farmersville's show is definitely way more exciting than the NL show. I wish NL had more volume for the Latin tunes.

As others have said, your 4th and 5th are a bit out there. I think Aubrey will struggle to make finals although I think Farmersville has a shot. Their chances would be better if there were 12 advancing to finals. Since we only have 10, it’s going to be tight. I think the top four will be a Celina-CS-PC-SS battle. It could go any way but that order is my best guess.

Thanks for sharing. I’ve been looking for a Celina video for weeks showing the entire show. I’m in awe of their precision. So many challenging movements and all so closely in sync. It’s incredible. Saturday was a blur. I’m going to watch the others later. I still feel like the judging here was pretty spot on. I am a little sad I won’t get to see the Paris accordion player again. So charming!

Dude don’t hate on argyle. That program is amazing. Give them a few more years and I think they will be near the top.

VA dropped from 7th to 9th. That’s not an absurd amount at a contest like this. I had them ranked 11th or 12th in finals in my head. I did not think it was their best run. Unless those people “unanimously agreeing” are a panel of UIL judges who have been through the training then you need to disregard what they are saying. I recommend reading up on the scoring guidelines and maybe you will understand how it works.

Farmersville got 10-3-9 in music so it seems like the 3 was outlier not the other way around. They scored high in visual.

Before they split off the military bands Area C was always dominated by the military bands in 3A particularly. Some really good corp band in the early 2000s could not get out of area because it’s hard to compete against the precision of a military band. Giving them their own state contest was the best solution. When people don’t understand the system, it looks like area c sends an inflated number of bands. The military bands could compete in area, they just elect to do their own thing.

I honestly don’t know! I’m friends with one of the NL directors and he told me they share a designer.
