Moe & Gene Johnson. They were 1 year into existence in 2020, with only Soph-Seniors that year. Now they're making UIL State in 6A + multiple Super Regional finals appearances this year.

Super fascinating and is another solid argument in persuading UIL to do…something, anything…different. The opposition’s argument is the difference in judging between UIL & BOA, but that’s another aspect I strongly believe could use some tweaking. Under no circumstances should 1 judge hold so much power in anything so heavily subjective, but that’s a topic for another time. I hate to use Lake Travis as an example, because theirs was my personal fav show this season, but when you look at their show/scores for this season compared to a school like Bowie’s…and then notice which one advanced to state…yeah, it’s interesting.

I want to laugh at this comment because it’s perfection, but it just feels really, really wrong… 😬🫣

There's multiple schools that had 3 judges put them in "finals" range, while the other judges did not. I dont think it was anything nefarious against one school in particular, it's just the way math works.

I disagree! I thought they more than held their own with the schools they were sandwhiched between, and thought it was actually going to guarantee them a spot in finals. I hadn't seen Keller yet all season and was absolutely floored by the quality of their performance. Def the most shocking result for me.

Honestly, I just don’t know anything about them & haven’t seen their show, so the name didn’t stand out. I assume they could possibly medal since I got called out for not listing them? It’ll be exciting to watch some new powerhouse bands I haven't gotten to see yet.
