We are waking up early and traveling from the Houston area but staying the weekend for state on Monday. The original plan was to come back to Houston and leave again on Sunday.

As a Woods parent, I can say this has been a truly wild experience. Between the weather delays and the change in area champion. But a rule is a rule. I just wish UIL had realized that and called it from the beginning. It's been interesting to hear the differing opinions and perspectives in this discussion. From my point of view, the outcome should be a character builder for the Woods kids. Yes, it stinks, but they qualified for state. That was the objective and I'm sure there are other bands who would love to switch places with them. They had yesterday to be sad (there were some tears from them) but now it's time to focus on the next goal. They have two more chances (BOA and state) to refine their performance. My hope is this will become an opportunity to learn to handle difficult situations with grace and continue on with grit. Congrats to Bridgeland on a stellar performance and good luck at State and Grand Nats!

Woods stopped 2/3 of the way through due to lightning.

I’m a parent chaperone with Woods today. I’m also a band director, but I’m at a private school right now. I do think it’s Ranch and Fair in concessions. I can’t figure out who is with us in the room as I don’t recognize their uniforms.

The director believes we will be starting up again sometime around 5:00 pm. However, I just overheard a director conversation about Monday and Tuesday. I thought it might be a prelims only contest. So we don’t know yet. Hags CSHS TpT I know woods and e-mail are in the same room. At least two bands are in concessions areas. Probably Fair and the band after them.

Lightening causing all bands to go in. Cy Fair was interrupted on the field during their show. Could be a while before we continue. Bands have gathered inside the Berry Center.

To those of you here who are performing, take a listen towards the end of the podcast. Just concentrate on your job so you will perform your best. There's nothing you can do about the weather, but you can be sure you are focused and ready for whatever situation you find yourself in. Good luck to everyone! See you there!

The weather outlook for Saturday at the Berry Center says: "Variable cloudiness with a brief shower or two; humid". No rain currently forecast for the evening. Wind SE at 13 mph and gusts to 24 mph. Monday: "Times of clouds and sun, windy and humid with a brief shower or two." Wind are S at 17 mph and gusts up to 31 mph. Sounds to me, if this remains accurate, that there will be some rain but not a lot or for very long. Saturday will surely happen!

My daughter's school will not be using electronics Saturday, most likely, at area. And if the contest is rescheduled, likely none then either. That is a bit concerning as I would hate to see bands be thrown off not hearing solo cues. I know they have to watch the hands, but anything that is different can influence them. But you gotta do what you gotta do.

I would imagine so. It would be listed as if prelims were finals results.

Area Marching Contest - Inclement Weather Plan This just came to my email regarding the rain possibility: Good morning, This weekend, we are looking at the possibility of rain during the Area marching band contest. This is the contest that determines which bands advance to the UIL State Marching Band Contest. In the event of rain, one of two things will happen: Finals might be cancelled and prelims scores will be used to advance bands to the State Marching Band Contest. UIL will use their inclement weather date of Monday, November 4. Please keep this date open as we may need to perform this day to qualify for State. Now…hopefully we do not have to use this option, but it is the backup plan from UIL. I wanted to let you know asap so you could plan in the event that UIL chooses t to go this route.
