Yup that is what I heard too! Very sad situation indeed. It’s becoming a common theme down in San Antonio. I don’t know if they had any overnight security but it’s almost a necessity now in the age we live in.

Good luck to all the 3A bands today! Even though 3A doesn’t get a lot of love there are some great bands.

UIL does not bring in random people to judge state level contests. Most of the judges have been selected and their names published numerous months ahead of time so directors know who they are. Also at the state level contests all judges scores get watched over by a head judge over the entire competition before they are submitted.

Also, forgot to mention you do realize props are not allowed to be scored in UIL. There are some directors that frown upon it. Yes, you can make the argument it helps enhance the show but that's it. Also, you should hopefully know that general effect also includes students doing visuals on the field, pacing of the show, emotion etc...etc...

Most of these fans complaining don’t realize that prelims were judged by 7 judges and finals were judged by a completely different set of 7 judges. Nobody is in kahoots!

Call me old fashioned but the LED boards are still too distracting to watch everything going on the field for Leander.

Congrats on your school making it this far! Just getting to the State Level is a huge accomplishment and something I wish all students could experience. I will say making 3A Finals is very difficult as there are lots of good bands that will be performing but anything is possible. Good luck and do your school proud.

Just got back home from my flight after watching 6A and 4A. Looking forward to going back down to watch some 3A and 5A next week. Let's give some 3A a little love! Gotta enjoy renting out a house next to the Alamodome.

I know 4A is the smallest division and I've heard rumblings that they may lower 3A 20-30 to send a few 3A's Up to 4

Gonna be some huge changes, I think I saw something that someone posted that 5-6 of the Final 4A Bands based on current projections will move up to 5A.

Before 2023, Band was every other year for 3A. Now it's every year. Mineola won in 2024, 2021, 2019, 2017, Whitesboro won in 2023, 2015 Argyle (now a 5A) won in 2012, 2010, 2008 Canton (now a 4A) won in 2006, 2004, 2002

I pretty much agree with you straight across the board. The color guard Mineola just pushes to another level. There was a lady sitting next to me in the crowd that told me during finals one of the girls broke two of her front teeth in Prelims refused to come off the field. It's crazy how a lot of the shows have evolved over the last 6 weeks of school and with one week left I'm sure most programs will still try to tweak or add something to the mix. I have always said all season it was Mineola or Redwater and I felt that way yesterday as well. I felt Mineola has the better show but believe Redwater can do better and make a case at State. I felt really bad for Winnsboro, very emotional moment for them which I knew it would be for someone that got to go to State last year but wouldn't this year.

Would love to see prelim score sheet for this as I enjoy this hamburger from DQ. Contest has an eerie feeling like last year with Redwater and Atlanta going after Mineola. Curious to see if Mineola can pull it off again. However, i got a feeling we might see a new Champ tonight. Anything can happen in finals!
