there was a judge last year (not saying what comp we were at) who scored us somewhat low cause we werent selling the point correctly. safe to say we turned it up for finals, no doubt they’ll do that again this year.

certainly feels personal, i hope they look at it cause im appalled. the directors probably talked about it already so hopefully it gets fixed cause thats certainly uncharacteristic. (im an alumni of forney)

in all seriousness: i am so nervous for the contest! first time not watching hs bands in 9 years which feels weird (besides the occasional pop ins for stream). everyone did so good tonight that i just enjoyed and soaked in the moment. im so proud of everyone who performed, especially my friends who go to some of these finalists schools!

i unfortunately only watched the morning block, so the only band that caught my eye was cedar park. can i just say i love their show so much? i know its cedar park, but ugh they know what to do 😭

exactly! a lot of programs had wonderful shows, and especially the first timers in state! with more years under their belt, lake belton will be a program worth keeping your eyes on!

they’re probably much better now, they’ve dropped a comp to get better, and it showed during parent performance. whenever they’re at area, they’ll show it. i know the directors are handling any parts that seem unbalanced or dirty.

okay after replying to 2 people im gonna make predictions (yes subjective and anything can happen). 1. Waxahachie / Forney 2. Forney / Waxahachie 3. Dville 4. Sasche I am not denying Rockwall is good, and truthfully with the right run, they could get in, but chances are slightly low.

forney in first?? I LIKE! (all jokes, predictions are subjective so what you may like may not be anyone else’s cup of tea).

two wrongs dont make a right. you represent your program when you make comments, and those words make or break the integrity and core of the program itsself. be careful with what you say online because it can bite you hard.

UNT pulled out of exhibition because of the weather, such a bummer cause i wanted to see some of the bands in this area, but I guess we cant win them all. i hope everyone stays safe and all, I know the roads will be somewhat whack tomorrow.

I would argue the directors dont really know what goes on the band program itsself. They could instill these policies and leave the student leaders to do carry out the rules. The students are at fault, specifically upperclassmen and leadership team cause they are responsible for their own actions. I know directors do check these forums in the event their kids are on here (I know mine were my senior year), so chances are they’ll come across this forum.

my friend in college (who went to lt) went to their area competition after our morning game. i know he’ll likely be upset on monday when i see him, but i do feel for the band.

in my humble opinion, its different to cheer because your school got in and cause of you liking the performance. however, they both can be easily be misinterpreted. i do think cheering when you clearly represent another school is rude, aka the mckinney north parents. that stuff can easily ruin a band’s reputation and change the overall view of the band itsself.

a lot of bands do this. its geniunely so rude to do this and i dont know why people do not see this as being disrespectful. i had talked to some girl at my hs about it and she said: “well we won area so of course we’re going to cheer.” there’s a time and place for everything, and especially not after finding out you wont be returning to state to defend your finals placement. i feel for the kids at lebanon trail, some of the sweetest people ive talked to, and i hope they’re okay.

they’ll probably leave and go back to their hometowns, i know forney did at bedford last year because of our 4:30 am calltime to get unis.

we had like 230 last year, but tbf they did get a huge influx of freshman this year

i dont know exact numbers this year, but last year we were one of the bigger bands at 5a state, but yeah i love them fr

i honestly feel like they could have kept some of the area J bands here but oh well (also why isnt 5a area b balanced)
