  1. The forecast isn't looking good. I don't know if we'll ever come back, kinda like Crockett '93

  3. here i am wondering if any of you are even asian...
  4. If I interpreted the TEA 2020 data correctly, the following are Title 1 schools that participated in 5A State. Everyone else isn't Title 1. Roma (10) Poteet (17) Pflugerville (22) Pioneer (25) North Mesquite (26) J.M. Hanks (28) Sharyland (30) PSJA North (31) Pine Tree (32) Lopez (33) Pace (34) Lubbock (35) It's worth noting that there are very successful non-Title 1 high schools with several MS/JH/ES feeders listed as Title 1. Low income percent also varies a lot depending on the school, ranging from the 40s to almost 100%. From TEA's figures, there wasn't a clear trend between placement and low income percentages. Do what you will with this information.
  5. They medaled in 2019/2021/2022. They had an good run during area finals (I heard it was equally good as prelims, which was amazing in person) but dropped two places to state alternate. I'm assuming Centennial and Birdville brought out their A+ game. They went through major staffing changes throughout the past few months but they've had nearly as much success as in the past few years. I wouldn't be surprised to see them back in state finals within the next 2 years.
  6. I think Area F had a strong showing this year! Although I'm disappointed about Aledo missing finals, they were very close (and they probably would've made it in if they went later.) Birdville was only 3 out and placed 15th like in 2019. I know that program has had some bumps since 2019, so I'm happy for them. This is also the second time that an Area F school placed in the top half at state, so congrats to Burleson Centennial! It was also great to see Richland make state and state finals after six long years. Regardless of how realignments may affect this area, I'm excited to see what the future will be for Area F.
  7. ... after watching all 12 finalists...
  8. Results won't be released until after the contest ends.
  9. That's weird, they're still on BOA's list. I doubt they'll do both because of the distance and since they should be able to make finals at both. Edit: They're still on the schedule as of 10/11.
  10. Azle won't be attending Area (they'll be at BOA Waco.)
  11. Berkner's low placement last year was due to their closer being very dirty. They likely would have made finals if they were visually cleaner. I haven't seen any videos of them this year, and the contest is more stacked than last year, so it's hard to predict where they'll end up.
  12. Flower Mound's show is "Deconstructed"
  13. One of the quirks of Mansfield judging, maybe. I will say that Colleyville's approach to music has changed a bit, probably because of director changes. They're louder but they also push their limits and sound a bit edgier than the past two years. I don't think that's enough to justify that large of a point gap, though. I don't think the results from today are anomalous, though. Berkner placed two spots under Colleyville at BOA Prosper last year solely because their closer was extremely dirty (6th in music vs 24th in visual... not normal.) If they didn't field their closer, they would have placed much higher, barring any potential penalties.
