Big news from Sachse - their head director is leaving to head the program at Wylie East. This potentially could make things very interesting here.

We're back!! I have updated the confirmed bands as they currently stand. Lake Highlands will go to Wylie instead of Melissa.

Last year, the contest was on Sept 28. I imagine MFA would stay consistent to that, as the football schedule allows for it. September 27 would probably be a good bet.

Agreed, but I just don't know how you could fairly accommodate for those bubble groups. Proposal D3 would make that accommodation, but that only really benefits two areas across the entire state: 6A Area J and 5A Area H. Since the two big LISD's dominate the podium each year, both of those areas would be getting 6-7 bands to state every year, which results in unequal representation, which makes marching band realignment moot. The sentiment is definitely felt across the state (Area J has this problem bad). With an exponentially fast-growing activity, it's hard to believe there will be a permanent solution. The reality is that there will always be some excellent groups who miss the cut simply due to the area they are in, and they may not be the same groups year-to-year.

I wouldn’t expect too much change to the finals block. The top 5 from this year will almost certainly be the top 5 next season (order TBD of course!). Going based off the state results, it will be pretty difficult for Sachse to repeat as the area champion. Duncanville and Rockwall are interchangeable at 4 and 5. A way-too-early prediction could play out as such: 1. Waxahachie 2. Forney 3. Sachse 4-5. Duncanville/Rockwall

Excited for this contest this year! Unlike last season, there is no conflict with the McKinney Marching Invitational and BOA Bedford, so I'm hoping they can return to the attendance numbers they've had in previous years.
