2025 BOA Prosper (Oct. 11)
BugWub24 replied to LeanderMomma's topic in Non-UIL: Upcoming Contests, Events, and Festivals
Yeah, Region 25 split up their contests. 6A and the Plano NVs are on October 11, 2A/3A/4A is October 15, and 5A is October 18. The 3A bands in this region get two weekends before Area. -

I am curious about the music selections for this one - this could be a fun show! -

I'm surprised Wylie still has this on their calendar - Region 25 6A contest is the same day (October 11). -

Waxahachie ISD a few months back announced a second high school — Waxahachie Creek — to be opening in 2027. Could also make things interesting on how they will split the student body. -

2026-2027 UIL Realignment

That was my first thought as well - bring back 25 to C - but unfortunately the same problem previously mentioned would arise in J, but would be much worse. McKinney North and Reedy could help get them back above 15 bands, but that still would only be three bands advancing to state in that scenario. That prevents even Prosper from making state. It'll be interesting for sure to see what TMEA/UIL does if multiple schools in the same area drop below the 6A cutoff. -

6A Area C would need another region if this were to happen. Worst case scenario would be that they could fall under 15 bands that qualify for area - nightmare scenarios for Sachse, Duncanville, and Rockwall among the rest of the bunch. 5A Area B could be very interesting with those additions. A band I would like to add to the list is Walnut Grove - they will definitely be moving up to 6A in the next realignment. -
I’m also under the impression that both schools will be just fine. Good foundations and principles go a long way. Regarding Sachse, SharksAreCool said it the best; the transition from 4A to 6A could “elevate his style.” I think it’s very likely this the case. Nall’s work jumpstarting the West Plains program has proven that he is the real deal, and now he has the resources and tools of a strong 6A program. I do also think they need to start consistently putting out great shows like this year and 2021, but I’m confident that will be taken care of with a new face in the program.

Justin Bell, current assistant director for Waxahachie, will be promoted to the head director role.

Here's some of West Plains' recent accomplishments: 7th Place finish at the 2024 UIL 4A State Marching Contest 2025 TMEA 4A Honor Band Amazing hire for Sachse - they are getting a well-respected and experienced director! They should continue to see the success they had this past year, and potentially could find themselves in the state finals bubble in a few years!

They were a fairly decent program a few years back (placed 6th in Prelims of 5A Area C in 2019); they were also going to other contests as well. Just looking at the recent band enrollment numbers, which are visible for every school on the music realignment page, seems like the program took a big hit from the pandemic, but they are starting to build back up their numbers, and with that will be able to go to more contests once again! I'm pretty sure this will be their first trip to a BOA event. -

For a good while, Greenville has only been at the Mesquite Marching Festival outside of UIL events. This will be a great experience for those kids! -

If it’s anything like Crossmen’s Earth Song, this could be a goated opener! -

Does anyone happen to know what’s happening at Waxahachie? I noticed their head director position was posted to the TMEA website. Of all the changes so far in Area C, this could potentially be the biggest change yet.

For those wondering, the head director is going to launch the Richland band program in Prosper ISD.

I believe the East director is retiring. As for Sachse, definitely will be interesting to see who they go with!
