Hebron 2016 is overall so underrated. That brass fanfare starting the closer is absolutely godly. Surreal is probably my favorite show ever.

Waxahachie was the 11th place band in prelims...hmmmm

True, that is one of the most legendary BOA moments of all time. And Hebron’s ballad this year isn’t pulling me in as much, but I thought this year was far and away the best first competition performance that Hebron has ever had.

I hate talking about scores but I’m still so shocked by that gap between FloMo and Hebron. I’m no judge, but I though that Hebron was out of this world!!!! (no pun intended ) I guess that bodes well for Marcus, Keller, and Bell being closer to Hebron than Hebron was to Flower Mound...because this is the best Hebron band ever in my opinion, definitely much better than last year. Also, Hebron, Marcus, and Keller have incomplete shows. So I’d fully expect them to close the gap on FloMo eventually.

Scores for everyone else besides FloMo just seem low.... I know scores are relative and I shouldn’t compare across years but...last year Hebron had an 86.45 in PRELIMS with a horrible run because of the microphone clarinet mishap. This year they have 2 full points lower in FINALS. Keller also 2+ points lower in finals this year. I just don’t see the huge gap between FloMo and Hebron. And Hebron so much closer to Marcus and Keller than to FloMo??? oh well , I still loved every performance tonight. That’s the most important thing.

I remember when The Woodlands completely blindsided everyone at San Antonio in 2016. And they even took GE from Leonardo’s Dream in prelims. I’m very excited to see how this show is in a month.

I want Hebron to win over FloMo but idk if it’s gonna happen. Also I think I would put Marcus over Keller tonight. Marcus was already super clean and Keller just needs more time to clean. I think Bell definitely stays in the top half. I have no clue how I would rank the bottom half.

I thought Keller gave a fantastic performance. They play these massive long phrases on the move as well as crazy technique and make it sound so powerful yet controlled. They also continue to amp up the visuals every year. So much going on but it works in an amazing way. So much difficult and they get better every single year. Keller, you should be proud!

I would love to see Bell ditch Cartwright...or even just give the kids a show with more challenge, because the kids are so talented!

LD Bell is performing their show at such a high level...it’s about time they are given a more challenging product though, they deserve it.

Marcus: I like the show so much more after seeing finals. Marcus is king in body movements. They have such a balanced sound and the guard is so talented. I still think the drill is overly easy but the visual effects are stunning. Fantastic job Marcus!!!

Vitrify

I think FloMo is great and clean an all but after seeing them after Hebron, I think Hebron is just on another level this year. FloMo has a complete show however.

Hebron: I can’t say anything that hasn’t already been said. The most skilled musical marching band EVER. I don’t know how anything is beating that right now.

Timber Creek: after all that they have gone through this summer, I am so happy that they are still absolutely throwing it down this year. This is going to be one heck of a performance. I was one of the people who doubted them and I love how they completely proved me wrong earlier today. There’s TONS of difficulty in that opener and the color guard keeps getting better each year! The ballad is so gorgeous. What a passionate performance Timber Creek!!!

Coppell - I love seeing them back in finals!!! Their brass has some serious power this year and their field coverage is always great! The color guard had some great moments and I love the color contrast. Their percussion is also so skilled!

Keller Central does really well at BOA, but for some strange reason, they do poorly at UIL and any other competition really. I don’t know what it is.

Wakeland: Now I see why they won 3A earlier. They are SO CLEAN. This show is extremely well designed and the level of execution is inspiring. The guard is also insanely talented. Perfect balance between music, visual, and GE. I love this show!

Waxahachie: I really love this show, everything about it. The characteristic music, the colors, the guard, percussion, and the drill. It’s all just so fun and well performed. And can we talk about the soloists?? All AMAZING! Keller Central: They always have the most creative show designs! So cute and fun. Everything is so well thought out and designed. I love the reoccurring melody and the guard really brought the energy! That Bari Sax solo will probably be my favorite solo of the day, so GOOD!!! As a former KISD band member it makes me SO HAPPY to see KC back in finals!!!

I love how each band is getting a standing ovation from the audience! Well deserved!

I believe Wakeland and Waxahachie had the full show? LD Bell has the full show. Hebron, Marcus, and Keller have through the ballad. FloMo has the whole show? Idk about Coppell, KC, and Timber.

And they didn’t have to perform in crazy heat. Definitely a give and take with a super long day.

I like this finals schedule because it’s going to be really easy to directly compare Hebron and FloMo. Also super long day for Keller...call time at 4am for an 8am prelims performance...and last in finals!
